Cam shaft went bad at 23000 miles this was a mfg problem for this year. GM NEVER notified me of warranty replacement.

The car is very dependable.

I have now completed a 100% restoration with updated engine, transmission, brakes and suspension. Interior is new.

You got a million miles out of this car and you are complaining about a camshaft? You should be happy about getting that much use out of a vehicle.

- One question: How did you drive that car that huge distance and not get tired of it?

I have a feeling that he just said a million miles because the speedometer cable broke and he really doesn't know how many miles are on it, and used 1,000,000 as a proxy for infinity. Any car that goes a million miles deserves the respect of all because it's a really big deal. In fact such a big deal, that if it really had gone a million miles, surely the reviewer would have said something about it in his written comments.

I have a 4-door 1976 Chevy Malibu, under 100,000 miles that belonged to my grandmother. Has always run great, very fast, but I haven't used it a quite a while so it's been sitting there, so I brought to a shop for a check-up. It has a fair amount of rust on trunk and around rear window. Guy in auto shop said it would take probably $2000 to change out all hoses, etc. etc. so that I could drive it safely and without worrying that it will break down or not start. Prob. not worth it ot me as I have another car. Should I donate it, sell it on ebay, or try to sell it for parts?

This year I imported from CA a 76 Malibu classic landau to England its been lowered and has fantastic alloys and a foose (overhaulin) billet steering wheel, want to communicate with other owners, for advice parts sourcing, etc I just love the car drove it from the port 250 miles home it's an awesome ride and so many people look in amazement, was told it had a big block 350 hot rod motor, but to me the motor looks as if its original and never been out, its origin was California, no rust or damage, bucket swivel front seats, its had a custom twin exhaust system fitted. What is the motor horse power any easy tricks to uprate?

Only fault the speedo does not work, and drivers door does not latch easy as if there is some thing wrong with the latch bolt, it does not have a plastic bush like the pass door can I get a replacement, also need drivers door inner rubber, the part that runs accross the door and scrapes on the glass, please contact me terrywhyton@aol.com.
