2005 Citroen C3 Desire from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Although aesthetically pleasing,a number of faults need to be fixed before a c3 could be recommended"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

At the grand old age of 4 months, and a total mileage of 3300, my alternator has broken! One by one, in the space of a few minutes, the functions of my car stopped working due to this problem i.e. power steering stopped working, anti-lock brakes went, air bag stopped working, windscreen wipers ceased to remove the rain from my window, my lights turned off, all information of my dashboard went blank (speedometer- in this car, as with all c3's, this informations is given digitally with a single number; petrol gauge etc) then eventually all power to my car was cut... all in all I was very lucky not to be travelling at a high speed for example on the motorway when this happened.

This is not the first Citroen c3 I know to have experienced this problem, a good friend of mine experienced similar difficulties only a month prior to my experience! So I was fortunate enough to know what was likely to happen once the function lights started appearing on my dashboard!

Moisture seals are also poor and are having to be replaced in the near future, although I suspect this problem does not occur in all c3's.

General comments?

The car is comfortable to drive and looks fantastic from the outside.

For the price of the car it has a number of features such as air conditioning that other cars of a similar price bracket lack.

Unique features such as the digitalised speedometer and unusual air vents makes the c3 a lovely car to look at!

I had the same problem at 2.5 years (mine is a 2003 C3). It went 'dead' on me while driving!

The moisture seal is another problem. During the first year I had to change the internal trim, after Citroen gave me a really hard time believing that it is water that went inside the car because the sunroof won't seal good.

I'm going to press charges on citroen for all the trouble I've been through.
