"This car is junk - do not buy"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought this car NEW and it was trouble ever since 45,000km mark.

FRONT BUSHES - very expensive and labour intensive to replace!

INTERMITTENT STARTING FAULT - cost about $3000- and still present.

Tyres - THIS CAR EATS TYRES!

Air Con - DOES NOT WORK... constantly re-gassed by dealer... BIG $$$$ to fix properly.

General comments?

Absolute Rubbish.

This is the worst car I have ever owned. Ford dealers are terrible... and very $$$$

When new the car drove very nicely... after about 45,000km it was a sharp down hill spiral.

Build quality is terrible... (I HAVE OWNED ALFA's so I know bad build quality).

Paint job is pathetic... simple thin paint with a horrible think lacquer applied.

Cheap plastics.

Carpets - RUBBISH

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRAND OF CAR... JUNK.

In agreement over the Mondeos' love for eating up suspension bushes and tyres, although mine has been quite reliable otherwise.

Mondeos are a great car or maybe my GLX sedan is a one off. The only prob I have is reversing with the limited vision rear (L) and (R). I wiite this at the 150,000K mark. Having probs, see:

I own a Mondeo and I can say that this is one nice limousine with no probs, truly it eats tyres, for 65 000 it eat 2 pairs front tyres, but it rides very silent and soft, and only the fuel pump was broken. Nice car, I think of buying a new one with bigger engine.

I agree with these comments. I would not even consider buying another Ford. There were just too many niggling faults with mine.

Can't agree with any of this. Have had a Mondeo as a commuter/station car for the past 18 months. Bought with 97,000 miles, and now about to click over 140,000 miles. Still does 70 miles a day in all weathers, day in day out.

Problems: The trim around the cigarette lighter has fallen off, one of the engine mounts needed replacing, and a CV joint had to be replaced. On an eight year old car with this mileage, I can live with that. Still sits at 80-90 mph comfortably, still has a great driving position, still handles sharply and keenly, still as reliable as clockwork, and still doesn't even use oil! So the interior plastics are cheap and brittle, but I'd rather have a properly engineered car with a cheap interior, than appalling engineering hidden under an expensive interior like my wife's VW Passat. £2,000 worth of problems since the warranty expired 16 months ago.

The Mondeo is a damn good car in my book.
