I absolutely LOVE this sports sedan, it's fast, refined, comfortable, and extremely reliable.
-10,000 miles after owning vehicle, 1st and 2nd gear were grinding upon acceleration-- clutch went out, had to rebuild tranny. Thankfully I have a family member that works in an autoshop and was able to get me 50% off labor and parts... total rebuild, roughly $850.00 --- Result, whole different car, smooth shifting, and can peal out in 2nd, 3rd if you got the RPM peak power curve down.. :-)
- CV joints have torn at 115,000 - not yet replaced.
- Just recently noticed that the coilpack (s) have been causing engine misfires when in a lower gear at low RPMs, most prominent when trying to accelerate, or "floor it."
- A/C clutch made loud squeeling noises when A/C was turned on, due to bearings in the pulley. After rebuild/replacement, I then realised that it was causing the loud engine noises at the 750RPM idle mark.
If you're looking for a car that offers performance, reliablity, and looks great, then the Maxima is definitely a bargain...
--You get---
190 BHP, 205 lb-ft/torque, 5 speed manual, sunroof, black leather, pearl white exterior, 18" 6-spoke wheels, 1" lower, tint, and strut bar... HOT combo
---Also---
Automatic temp controls/audio controls are all very easy to use and positioned perfectly.
- As long as you know what you're doing, RE: Coilpack issues / misfiring, as long as you know the procedure to find the issue, problematic coil (s), you're fine. This is an excellent, reliable, and silky smooth VQ-series engine.
ENJOY. (Maxima.org) You can find out a lot. :-)
