Nothing went wrong with the car.
Love the handling. Lotus did a good job in tuning the suspension. Stiffest chassis in its class also did the trick.
After read few comments from 2005 to 2006 model, I have found out Waja has improved. My 2003 model may not be as good as recent model, but I guess problem rectification has been improved. I heard other proton models was rectified it's problem in less than a year.
Good engine, but need to keep up with the quality.
Proton Waja has improved. The car is reliable. Persistence schedule maintenance will make the car longer last. I have encountered no problem in the engine and transmission. A correct fluid type will protect these parts.
The sad thing about decision to buy Proton Waja in Singapore is that it is not competitively priced - looking at alternative units such as Mitsubishi Lancer - it comes with driver position steering wheel airbag and ABS as standard with a price that is a few thousand dollars less for the manual and about same for the auto - Cheverolet Optra Estate - a big boot to put all the barang, barang and for slightly higher price than the Waja Manual comes with ABS, but without airbag.
If Proton wants to sell their cars well in Singapore - aside from quality improvements, they have to be priced somewhat more competively compared with the Koreans / Japanese manufactured units.
The Waja simply lacks in safety items and that will be sad to see a product from a neighbour lose out to products from further afield.
I fully agree with u.
My 2005 WAJA has been a very good car for my family and I. It has enough acceleration to merge well with traffic. The seating accommodations are comfortable for all five of us. This is a good looking car. The Goodyear Eagle tires are a good fit for the handling and performance of this car. I've enjoyed the vehicle. It has served me well.
Are you seriously saying that waja's a good car? It's interior is made out of cheap plastics and the only safety that comes with this car is the century old seatbelt technology. Try comparing it to the Toyota vios 1.5G and you'll see the difference. Please save yourself money and trouble by buying a Toyota instead.
Of course there are big differences between Toyota Vios 1.5G and Proton Waja AT 1.6 (with airbag and ABS). In comparison of prices between these two types of car, you will notice that the different is over RM 20 K. That is a lot of money. No wonder Proton Waja used cheap materials for the interior.
I bought Waja because of it's specifications and handling suits my needs.
For me, although it is a cheap plastics, as long as it is safe enough to protect driver and passengers is sufficient enough.
I have a friend who upgrade the plastic not by covering it with leather, but spray it. I was surprised it looks upmarket.
Sadly in singapore proton is not priced to sell at all.
A toyota vios or mitsubishi lancer is sgd 5000 cheaper and the altis costs only sgd 1000 more.
This makes it a no brainer.
Hello I am Prem Karthak (jimi) from Kathmandu Nepal!! Proton is a new name in town!! most people don't know what it is or where it comes from!! Most Nepalese know either Toyota or Nissan or the Maruti (indian version of suzuki). this is to tell all that when I saw Proton Waja, I fell in love with the looks!!It reminded me of the Alfa romeo 164 that I had in the US (when I was there) It has stunning looks!! I was not very happy with the interior (yes it has cheap looking dashboard) but when I took a test drive found out for my self how well the car handled then I knew that I had to have it!! The cheap plastic interior did not matter and it does not matter now that have have put good quality waxy polish on the dashboard surfaces and it now looks reasonalby good enough !!! I have just bought a 2006 model as the dealer don't have the 2007 as yet!! I have forgiven Proton for the cheap plastics interiors!! I have had it for 2 weeks now and I am estatic because first I really look forward to driving it and cornering is beautiful every time!! no oversteer!! The car is very confident at high speeds!! and two I have a really sexy looking car everytime I take it out!! people do look at this car on the street!! and three I saved some money as well I paid U$28,000/- as compared to my other choice which was a Nissan Sunny supersaloon at US 36,500/-. okay this Proton does not have Airbags!! (Nissan has) but the way it handles and brakes, I know that I won't have an accident to make use of the Airbag anyway!! ha ha!! And the brakes!! The car stops where you want to stop!! The all wheel disk brakes works just like my Mercedes Benz W123 200 D which also has all wheel disk brakes!! finally i know that the resale value won't be good!! I know that, but!! right now I am not worried about the resale value!! Lets see 5 years down the line!! I know that this car will do well for at least five years!! I know for sure!! and then lets see!! If it holds strong for 5 years then may be I will keep it for another five!! So for me resale value is not a worry!! maybe be i will find a buyer who is like me and understands a good well built car rather then the the brand name thanks PRem karthak (jimi) kathmandu Nepal
I'm Fathy Fikry from Alexandria, EGYPT, I got my new Auto-WAJA one month later and I'm really proud of it.
Good price, Excellent Technologically advanced & smooth handling, please do not believe any lies about WAJA unless you test it.
You can compare its tech. with many famous cars, but you cannot compare its good price, well it was the best price for me.
