2004 Renault Megane 5 Door Saloon from Seychelles - Comments

"Overall good value for money, definitely a winner if Renault rectify those teething issues"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

At 3 months, the maintenance free battery went dead and I was left stranded on the road.

After approx 4000 Km, the front brakes started squealing at low speed.

About the same time the steering wheel started clanking when turned through a full turn.

At 4500 Km (approx. 6 months), the 10000 Km service alarm came up.

The windscreen wiper water tank split at the point where the water pump motor is mounted.

The RHS front indicator signal failed.

The RHS window switch went faulty.

All windows have stopped functioning at different intervals.

General comments?

With the exception of the brake squeals and the clanking of the steering wheel when in full turn lock, the local Renault dealer has been quick and efficient in rectifying the other problems. I would appreciate any lead on how these two outstanding niggles can be sorted out.

The windows faults were mainly due to the guide rails lubricant drying up, thus jamming the smooth travel of the window tracks.

Handling on bumpy roads is fairly good compared to the excellent holding performance on smooth road surfaces.

Very comfortable interior with plenty of leg room.

Poorly designed jack - a shame really.

Can't imagine how a (5) doors Saloon would look like!
