Idle was very rough when car ran for a long period of time.
Rest of things that went bad on the car was simply regular maintenance Such as paint, brakes, tires, plugs, wires, oil changes, etc.
This car was absolutely amazing. I was truly in love with it. I bought it when it was rather beat up. Only paid $800 and then painted it re-did the wheels, put a high performance exhaust on it (which by the way sounded excellent) I put at most $600 into the car in the entire 2 years I had owned it! I thought that was spectacular especially considering I spent $350 on the paint alone. The car was pretty quick and very responsive. I had a blast every single time I drove this car. It also handled like a go-kart, an absolute blast! Unfortunately, after two years the idle was getting extremely rough and it was pushing black smoke out of the pipes. I had assumed I blew the head gasket, but wasn't positive. My friend gave me a decent offer for it ($1500) so I made a mistake and sold it. I have been searching all around for another one and haven't yet found the "right" deal just yet. I highly recommend this car. You WON'T be let down!
I just got a great deal on an '86 325es. Free! Just had to pay the shipping from Seattle to Maine! It will great with my '81 Alpina B6,2.8! Oh, why free? My baby sister bought a Carera.
Hey man, I just want to know where you're located to get a paintjob for 350 bucks, and only putting 600 into the car with a high performance exaust also..
Please contact me; my phone number is 201 724 3710. I just bought one and I need to learn more about it. It's pretty beat up as well.
I have owned a 1986 BMW 325es since it was new in 1986. That car has a heart of gold. It has seen a lot and still starts better after sitting than my 2000 Z3. I am thinking about selling it, but after reading the different comments on this site, I believe I will keep it and fix it up a bit. It is rather beat up, but not too much. Needs a paint job, but don't know who I can trust to not rip me off and who will do a good job and I need a new front spoiler. If anyone knows where I can get one, I would really appreciate it. The car has over 150K miles at which the odometer stopped working and I just haven't replaced it. Anyhow, I am glad I have kept it all these years.
