1987 Citroen BX 1.9 GTi from Norway - Comments

I only owned it for a couple of months before I crashed it, but the only thing that went wrong with it was that the fuel-pipe rusted through which is common for these cars, though you don't need to worry about the rumour that Citroen's always rust away.

This car is excellent, as well known (it's legendary), except for one thing: THE DESIGN! AWFUL. I can't understand how Citroen's designers decided to make this design, even though it was the 80's.

But except for this I know it is one of the worlds most comfy cars with it's suspension and seats, and the engine (though not the 16V, but the regular GTI 127hp) is a chapter of its own and is REALLY a piece of engineering! It IS the reason the car is so well known, and the engine is still well known by motor engineers over the world.

Think you're driving a car and you put the pedal down to drive fast. When the engine reaches 4-5000 rpm the effect goes down and you will have to gear up to the next level, but with this engine the effect won't be lost at all. Imagine accelerating in the third gear, the engine goes to 4000+ rpm, and with a regular engine you would now have to gear up, but with this engine you can just keep on going till the engine reaches 6000+ rpm and the effect doesn't go down at all either. And so it continues till you come to the final gear. It's very special and it cannot be described with words.

Hi the cars are excellent I think the design isn't too bad. It is one of the worlds most comfy cars. I love the cars.

Just bought a 1986 BX19Gt (carburettor) and love it,

needed a bit of work and money spent but worth

the effort to keep the car in best condition as

possible because they don't make Citroens anymore

with such supple suspension and terrific ride plus

the BX19Gt is regarded as quite rare(most being EFI).
