Rust is starting to bite in on the passenger side door, besides that though, nothing
If you get one of these little babies stock, first thing you should do is take the straw they call an exhuast and replace it with a 3" one Mmmmm....
I am 17, my first car is a Cordia Turbo 1.8L and I love it. My dad got it from his mate for four grand Aus.
It came with a 2 1/2" exhaust and 16" Momo wheels which have already being stolen, but I got $1000 insurance on them so who is complaining.
They are great 1st cars, but be careful, you need to know how to drive so you don't kill yourself, they're very powerful.
I owned a Cordia Turbo with a 1.8l mildly worked engine. It had a standard exhaust which I replaced with a 2.5 inch straight through and a 4 inch tip. I lowered it 2 inchs and had a K&N air filter and Blitz B/V put on . It used to fly along. It was running 8.6psi. The technology is old, but if well maintained can last a lifetime.
P.S PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE change the engine oil every 6 months as the turbo is oil cooled and can be easily damaged if not clean. Look after the car as it can be very costly to repair (DON'T NEGLECT YOUR CAR. THEY WERE AND STILL ARE A BEAUTIFUL MACHINE).
My first car was a 84 GSR Cordia. It had a bored out 1.8l engine and ran a standard Tc06 turbocharger with 3" exhaust and 4" dump pipe.
After some minor rust repairs around the tail lights and rear wheel arches, a 2-pac respray in San Marino Yellow was applied. Customized front, rear and side skirts and a BMW M3 supertourer wing as an after thought fitted well and made the car look a million bucks.
Other mods included 16" alloys and Pioneer sound system.
High marks should be awarded to Cordias for performance, and style to rival most cars on the market 16 years later.
The sad part of my story is that 2 months after finishing my car, I was sitting at a set of traffic lights and was hit up the back up by a bunch of teenagers on P plates in a bomb Torana with bald tyres doing about 75.
RESULT: Lots of time and heartache wasted and a near death encounter. Insurance payout of $3800.
MORAL: If you are going to do up a older car, take photos and insure for an agreed value and not the market value.
P.S. I sued the idiots and bought a new 85 GSR Cordia, but that's a different story.
I'm 18 and have the 84 GSR Cordia. I don't think I ever want to buy another car for the rest of my life. I absolutely love this Cordia. They look great, drive great and with a nice exhaust, sound awesome. I wish I had some more money to buy a whole lot of them and restore them.
After months desperately looking for a cheap Cordia Turbo I decided to get a GSL instead. My DREAM CAR is still the beautiful king of all cars, the Cordia GSR. I decided that I will keep my GSL and buy a GSR as well. If you know anyone who is selling one for about $500 to $1200 (Doesn't have to have a straight body or have rego) please contact me on tolga_84@yahoo.com
