Not a thing.
I am very pleased with the Elantra. I bought it to replace my Mazda Protege 5 after it was totalled in an accident. I considered buying a Mazda 3, but couldn't quite afford one, even used. I don't regret at all buying the Hyundai.
My favorite feature on the car are the seats. The upolstery is very nice and appears very durable & high quality. The seats themselves are extremely comfortable. In fact, I would venture to say that the only cars I've ridden in with comparable seat comfort are Volvos and SAABs.
The interior appears to me to be significantly larger than the competition. I don't know if that's due to the SAAB-like curve of the hatchback or what.
Handling, after coming from the Mazda PR5, seemed at first a little disappointing, but as I've warmed up to it, I realize it's pretty darn good. The ride quality is excellent for a compact car too.
A little sluggish off the line, but once you hit your stride, a very different story.
Construction & materials are fairly impressive for this price.
I think the Japanese automakers should take note...
Yes right now the Hyundai is a wonderful car for you, but wait 3 or 4 years and see if it holds up against the Japanese made cars doubtful it will.
I am quite sure this Hyundai will be on the road for years to come. You people that post negative comments need to realize the days of the Excel are over and that the almighty Japanese cars are not the only cars on top. I see more problems posted on Honda and Toyota on this site. Educate yourselves before you berate a vehicle.
Amen to that. I felt the same way until I wound up buying a 2001 Elantra. It now has 174,000 miles on it and all I've replaced besides normal wear & tear items (brakes, oil, filters, belts) is the water pump at 161,000.
Beautiful car for the money...

Actually, my hyundai elantra is 5 years old... and feels exactly the same as when I bought it.
I recently bought a 2005 Elantra hatchback with 15,000 miles on it. At first, I wasn't getting very good gas mileage in the city and I thought I had been taken. This past weekend, I spent two hours on the highway and had great gas mileage, used less than half a tank. It looks great, has sunroof great sound system and zips down the road like a jet. I am hoping it will last me while my kids get through college.
