"Very good car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The "engine" and traction control (orange) lights intermittently come on as does the airbag warning light (red) and sometimes the oil pressure warning light (red). When the orange lights come on, the power steering loses 50% of its assistance and stays off even after the orange lights have gone out.

This can be fixed by (once the orange lights have gone out) stopping, turning off the engine and restarting.

When the oil pressure light comes on, and it only comes on after the orange lights and the airbag light is on, the air conditioner switches itself off.

At times the car will perform normally for 1-2 hours, then the fault lights will appear, always in the order of left to right, ie, engine light, then traction lights, then air bag, then oil.

I’ve had a computer diagnostic check done on the car and the only fault found was a faulty oil pressure switch??? Doesn’t seem right to me.

Anyone got any ideas.

General comments?

Apart from the above fault, the car has performed faultlessly, it is roomy, comfortable to drive and has adequate power for all situations.

It's guaranteed to be the ABS computer. I know it sounds strange, but that's what it will be and you're probably looking at about $700 to replace. I had the exact same problem with my 99 WH Statesman Supercharged V6.

I agree, I had the same problem with my 99 WH, it was the ABS module, try unplugging it and your problems will go. you can leave it that way, but then you lose an important safey feature. it will be expensive to replace, $700 to $900.

Finally after a huge amount of searching you have explained exactly the problem I have. Now I can get the new one done without worrying about being ripped off. Good on you lads.
