"Good for a first car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The distributor started stripping.

Manual choke wouldn't stay out and had to be held.

Radio didn't work (acceptable for a 25yr old car)

Not fast enough.

General comments?

Good for a first car

handles pretty well

real easy to park

with a cut and polish it comes up good

the ghia comes with quite a few extras for example the interior in mine is axceptionally good black velvet seats black dash with silver trim. very comfortable seats. comes with alloys.

Its funny to read all the comments about the choke not staying out... I have the EXACT same problem with my laser... So I have what is known in our household as the "Choke Rag" which sits in my car to be stuffed behind the choke to keep it out!

You will find that there is a silver bolt-like thing with 4 grooves behind the choke handle (visible from the front of the dash. Tighten this sufficiently and it should fix the problem. I had the same problem with my KA Laser Ghia.
