"UH OH, What did I buy??!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Like a previous blogger, I too am part of the "service engine soon - antilock break - trac off - light show on the dash club". This happened as soon as I left the lot. Took back to used dealer, they replaced the ignition switch which they told me fixed the christmas tree lights on my dash. Took it home, no warning lights. Left short time later, christmas again! Went off after getting gas, but came on after turning car off and on again. Anyone know why this is, please let me know!

General comments?

If these warning lights could be fixed and I don't have any of the other problems that other people are having, I'd love the car. I've only owned it for 5 days, but only drove it for a total of 2 because it's been back to the dealer so often. I just wish I read these posts BEFORE I purchased this car. Now I'm scared and plan on using the lemon law to get my $ back if these warning lights aren't fixed.

If you like the Alero, but want a more reliability, I suggest you look at the Intrigue. It's a bigger version of the Alero, has a nicer ride, and more room, and will last a lot longer. Especially if the Intrigue is a 2001 or 2002. Good luck.

Why is it that a majority of people only seem to find this website AFTER they have purchased a troublesome vehicle? Doesn't anybody research a potential vehicle before purchase anymore?

Five days later and I now have my car finally. I told the dealer that the dash warning lights might be because of the wheel speed sensor (per this site) and sure enough, it was. They cleaned it up and now I've been driving it for almost a day without any warning lights so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. And if you're on this site then I have to assume you own an Alero too so why don't you answer your own question on why doesn't anyone research cars before they buy. I did, but I never came across this site or others like it until after, I only read the reviews when the car was brand new and they were all good except for the cheap plastic inside and the stiff break pedal. If they only knew what they know now 6 years later.

- No. Some people are very dumb.

I also have the problem with the antilock brake/trac off lights constantly staying on. I've replaced wheel bearings with the speed sensor and everything-nothing works! Has anyone found a fix for this problem?
