Numerous exterior lights have burned out.
Interior light for the passenger temperature control has failed.
The seats are easily stained and require constant cleaning. Just spilling water on the seat will leave a stain.
At 52,000 miles the left front wheel bearing needed to be replaced and then at 53,000 miles the right front wheel bearing needed to be replaced. This was done at a cost of $240.00 each. The dealership would have done each side for only $480.00.
The aluminum wheels frequently throw a weight. I have the upgrade 17" wheels that require the weights to be "glued" onto the inside of the wheel.
Unless you replace the tires with Goodyear Fortera tires you are very limited as to the make of tires you can choose for replacement as few manufacturers make such a size.
I enjoy driving the car. The ride is good.
There is adequate power and the versatility of the vehicle is good.
I frequently joke regarding my $20,000 cooler that came with a free car.
3rd Ugliest??? What cars are the 1st & 2nd ugliest?
The Pacer & the Vehicross??? Perhaps the Tribeca should be in the top 4 too.
I have to say I think the Ssangyong Rodius has to be THE ugliest car on the planet. It looks like the Aztek's father. I've never seen one in person, but the pictures are bad enough.
The Aztek is the ugliest vehicle made this century, with the Honda element being a close second.
WHY do they make such ugly junk nowdays??? YUK!!!
I know, the onlt vehicles that look even half way decent is the full-size pickups= = and they wouldn't win any prizes!
Add the PT Cruiser aka "BU (Butt-ugly) Cruiser" to the list
too. I also agree that the Element should be up there!
I love my Aztek! I convinced a friend at work to buy one as well. We love them.
Having said that we joked about a report that said it was the ugliest car around and we laughed and said "At least it will never be stolen!" Personally I never felt it was ugly. Mind you I loved the Edsel as well! Cheers
Right on the AZTEK, it is not for primitive..., I loved it and want it back, even improved (every car can bee always improved) Now I want it back for 2007. Are you listening Pontiac? Do not kill your most versatile, intelligent outstanding products, just improve reliability and make it even more modern and "ugly" so all the morons will be green with envy!!
Honda element is one of most innovative, fresh designs of the last 50 years. Highly practical, unique, high quality SUV/VAN, just what people love and need. Lots of people buy them in Canada, no need for dumb FORD-Chevy advertising tailored for the uneducated crowd. Honda knows well what they are doing!! Period.
I personally like Honda and think that them (along with Toyota) are 1000X more reliable then FORD will EVER BE.
With that said, I still think the Honda Element is one of the most HIDEOUS vehicles out there. The thing looks like a wannabe Overpriced Scion xB. However, I actually like the xB, but I cannot stand the Element.
Honda element is JUST a box, Scion xB is a rather ugly box. Chrysler 300 is a pregnant briefcase. GM has nobody to do decent design.
While hondas and toyotas may be realiable, in my book, they are some of the most bland cars visually, driving, and well overall, the reputation.
"I'm gonna drag you in my corolla!" Just doesn't seem to inspire fear in anyone...
At least some of the american companies have some flavor to their cars, not all are good looking, but a majority have a decent look. I'm sure certain models of toyotas and hondas have a good look, but overall, I'd buy one for the realiabilty if I were to do so.
ACtually I drive a Jetta and I'll tell you one thing,
those germans make one fine driving and good lookin machine!
Note: I'm a home mech so the car is easy peezy lemon squezzy to take care of lol. (yes I just used that phrase)
The Honda element looks like something that a 6 year-old built out of Legos.
I fail to see where American design stands out overall, although individual models (mainly Chrysler) are exceptions.
The Aztek is plain ugly and no one liked it if you go by sales, not to mention reliability.
I had a 2001 Aztek, it didn't have any problems, but I could see them coming in the future. My husband is a mechanic, and the biggest problem is that just about everything in the engine is inaccessable. Heck, the service books show 4 hours to change the spark plugs. The spark plugs! It was a fun car to drive, but I am glad I no longer have to deal with the maintenance on it. I tried to change the air filter myself... never again.
