Speedomiter stopped working after 74,000 miles.
Gearbox packed up after 83,000 miles.
Bodywork gradually got rustier during the 2 years that I owned the car.
Aside the speedometer and gearbox faults, the Marina proved itself a very reliable car as well as being comfortable and decent to drive. It was a great car, especially when you hear all the critics going on about what a dreadful car the Morris Marina was.
It was good value for a seven year old car, costing just £450 in 1980. I kept it for two years before my brother paid £300 for it. He kept it for three years until it was stolen from a pub car park and never recovered.
Hi, great to here someone else owned a Morris Marina TC Jubilee!
Can you remember the number plate of this car?
If you can please e-mail to tekpav@hotmail.com.
I am compiling a list and I have about 6 so far!
Thanks,
Paul.
I love Marinas!!!
My dad had a metallic brown TC saloon (with the black vinyl roof & webasto *drool*) when I was a boy & it was love at first sight for me. It was scrapped ultimately after a couple of shunts (crumpled like paper, as I recall).
What was different about the "jubilee" model? this is a new name to me & I'd love to find out more.
Incidentally my dad's marina was KCN390P a plate I know i'll never forget... put it this way I'm remembering it instantly and vividly, 30 years on. I was no more than 6 years old when dad had the car...
CU.
Hi, the Marina Jubilee 1800TC was a special limited edition to mark the Diamond Jubilee of BLMC. All of these cars were saloon models, Citron in colour with black vinyl roof on a 'M' Reg plate (1973). They came with front under bumper fog lights, tinted windows, opening front door quarter lights, the TC grille was also trimmed in citron colour as apposed to red, Brushed nylon navy seats with head rests and navy interior. they did not have the standard TC wheels they had a centre trim with leyland badge in the middle. A Jubilee badge on the sides of the front wings below the TC wing badge was also added. I was also about 2 to 3 years old when they came out and I still remember them in detail.
There were only a limited number produced between 1000 and 2000 cars!
Cheers,
Paul.

I was just scrolling through the web and came across this site I owned various marinas and the best one despite all the criticism they received was a 1973 18 Tc jubilee reg that I remember was PDH 5--M I brought it about 1983 for about £600. it was a smart looking car for a 1973 model. unusual colour lime green dark blue fabric roof and cloth seats tinted glass it had the wider steel wheel with the black center with the Leyland badge on it, but I got hold of a set of TC wheels which I think made it look smarter. as marinas go this was a fast car however it used to suffer from axle twist when you put your foot down. even though it had it's faults it was a fun car to drive it stood out in a crowd and being a limited edition no one else had one. I kept it for a year and sold it for £550 not bad. i then brought an ital 17hls this was boring compared to the marina I sold it 3 months later. nice to hear of other owners stories on this 70's icon.
