I did not checked thoroughly when I bought this second hand car in 2003.
Some components needed to be changed at the time when I bought it:
- Fan belt
- Air and fuel filter
The air conditioning was not really cold also, so I brought it to local mechanic and changed the dryer and cleaned all the components.
This car is quite big compared to the previous Corolla model and equipped with a newly designed 1.8L engine. My Altis engine is not the most sophisticated as in 2004, Toyota introduced Altis with VVTi engine.
The car is very comfortable and its power is big. I like to use it in highways to test its maximum speed.
When it was first introduced here in the late 2000, the model looks unattractive, its height compared to its width seems not proportional, but gradually I like the model although it is still big for me.
I bought an Altis 1.8L 6 months ago. What I enjoy the most is the accelerations on the highway. When I'm in a slow lane, and want to move to the fast lane, I change the gear ratio to 3rd and accelerate. The car allows a very long drag, and immediately speeds up the car in a very short period of time. I really enjoy the thrill and I'm proud to own such a great car.
I previously owned a Nissan Sentra and Proton Wira, and now have the Altis. None of its competitors beats it!
However, I want to warn that, you need to consider 1.8L instead of 1.6L. This is a very critical decision and crucial investment, you will not regret for life. In fact, many of us do not have many chance to buy such an expensive car, but it must be worth what you spend.
Though I have not really tried a Civic, the previous model was a very old model and looks out of date. However, the new Civic gives me an impression that the body design and finishing is not really refined, unlike Toyota.
