1993 Mitsubishi Lancer GLXi from Philippines - Comments

"Quick, reliable, powerful... but comfortable enough to take your family on an out of town travel"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Power steering pump replaced

together with power steering kit and pulley tensioner for improved handling.

Engine support has been replaced to reduce cabin vibration.

Fuel pump replaced as car won't start.

Shocks bottomed, bushings, and tie rod got misaligned due to road condition.

Power window cable tends to snap due to wear and tear.

General comments?

Stock:

Despite having a great amount of cost in repairs, this car has won my heart. it fits the bill of a reliable family car (you could even drive it with some major engine problem). great handling on corner, stable on wet condition. has enough room for 5 person and reasonable trunk space. fuel mileage is surprisingly low despite its aging engine.

Modified:

Handling is improved when fitted with entry level performance shocks and springs, together with front strut bar.

Excellent road grip due to its F1 tires, specially on wet condition.

Acceleration is quick and much comparable to WRX's. Cold-Air Intake, headers, oversize tubing and free-flow exhaust mufflers increased its power.

Despite having a stock 1.6 single overhead engine and tranny, its powerful enough to be pushed beyond 180 kph on a freeway.

Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver along traffic.

Center of gravity is notably balanced

but could be improved.

Line of sight is commendable, but has a blind spot when turning.
