First bought the car needed a starter then soon when the radiator and then the head gaskets blew and then needed brakes front and rear and then a tune up then after all the work I did to the car it needed struts now the sub frame mounts are bad and I don't know if it will pass inspection like that and its starting to rise in the passenger lower rear quarter.
It's a great car that ford designed, but the fuel economy I'm getting even when I'm not no where near the floor is about 12mpg and that's horrible for a Taurus and people that own them should know this I got a blazer also that's way faster and is getting upwards of 20+mpg and a caprice that is getting around that as well, but it's a alright car for 900 bucks that I paid for, but now I'm up at around 3500 into the car I don't know if I would get another one they rust and kill ya in gas.
It was a used car. A crappy one at that.
Most taurus's in good condition will get better mpg.
On my worst day I would get 17 MPG on my Taurus. But that was WINTER driving, CITY driving, and HARD driving all in one. I have a Sable now that gets close to 26 MPG more highway than not.
That's funny, I am always extremely happy with the 28mpg (highway) I get with my Taurus. But then my other car is a Jeep Cherokee :).
