I'm a student, and bought this car because it was just under £10,000 and affordable insurance.
Not bad start for couple of months, then just before moving to uni it decides that everytime I want to indicate, the car wants to flash everyone making turning very uncomfortable as everyone thinks I'm being a courteous road user.
Changed the same day, credit to peugeot here, guy was good about it.
After 11,000 miles, I get a "anti-polution error - catalityc converter fault" message appear on my screen, and the car turns into a heap of crap, doing maximum of 50 miles an hour, OK, but I was on the motorway, not nice.
Pulled into garage, refilled it, and went away.
Now, after 34,000 miles I am having a nightmare time with the clutch.
I want to go, it wants to rev.
I put it in gear, off I go, no where near the clutch and it wants to rev. Now I know how to drive a car, before anyone even thinks of the good old "he's riding the clutch"
Far from it, yet I await a response from peugeot tommorow on whether or not this is a fault or wear and tear, and my lovely quote on repairs.
Its shocking the problems people have been having with this car.
I have just had a service recall letter through for an engine fault, I have had problems with my windows, when I put the up, and lock the car, I come back and the bloody things are down, cos after the engine is turned off, the elctrics take a few seconds to turn off.
And I am just tired the build quality, serves me right for going for affordable, apparently in france that means nightmare, :-)
I like the look, put some 18"s on the wheels, and a sports grill, stands out, I like it. Not many boy racers in my area, I'm not one either, but it certainly maintains a sporty look against the likes of fords focus, and vauxhalls corsa, and I like it more than my 206.
I can't wait to graduate and get rid, get a toyota, or something that won't steer itself back into the repairs department of your local dealer all by its shoddy demonic minded self.
Honestly, if its all you can afford, and you have enough spare change for the paracetamol, get one, but if you can afford slightly higher, and further east in my opinion, go for it, it will save you in repair bills in the long run.
I had some of these problems as well.
I, ve just purchased a 51 plate 307 (90bhp) and the first thing I noticed was the strange indicator behaviour and the clutch is a bit high I just gotta touch pedal and it engages,low and behold there will be more problems to come as its done 100k miles, but I got it cheap enough (-;
