Well 4 starters EVERYTHING!!!
When I first bought this car it was great had the power and everything was great.
Now the car smells like gas when you first start it up, the car also makes a tapping noise when first started up. there is a big power loss all of a sudden, and dosent want to climb n e hills. the exhaust got hot and the idiots at the exhaust place didn't put on a heat shield so now I have a big hole in the floor were the heat came up and burned the carpet. the trany wants to shift at really high RPM's and after the shift the car has trouble pulling its own weight!
Well other than the gigantic list of problems I said in the above lines, the car seems to be OK it has went off road were jeeps and only other serious off roaders have went. the car was getting great gas millage around 20MPG then it stopped when I had loss of power. every one that sits in the back seats loves that their able to recline. the heater is hot and the AC is Cold. I think this SUV will be great after I spend all the money I have to Fix it.
Justin.
Don't worry about the tapping noise, it is common on pretty much all nissan pickups. It isn't knocking, or even a bad sign. Basically, after 40,000 miles or so, the engine's hydraulic lifters stick a tiny bit, so they "click" when they actuate. After the engine runs for a few minutes, the oil pressure comes up more, and the lifters won't stick any longer.
If it really bugs you, just keep it filled with the maximum amount of oil and it won't happen. But it doesn't hurt anything.
Do you think that it could be the drivers fault that the car is turning into a pile of junk! Most likely you just got a lemon that's all. Pathfinders are all right. You just need to be able to hold drinks and be a little bit more comfy! If you're looking for a car like the pathfinder, but 100% better get a jeep man it will be worth your while!
I noticed you had a 4runner before this, can you compare the two? I am looking for a new (to me) vehicle, and have narrowed it down to these 2. What do you think?
