"Family Suv-Pickup that could use some tweeking"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Well since it is 2006 not much has gone wrong with it so far. The drivers side front left speaker seems to have failed, but I attribute that to the previous owners usage. The bed seems to leak on the left side between the second and third plates. and for some reason I seem to get a front end shake when I brake coming down hills and the car seems to get loose at a sudden high speed brake when the weight transfers to the front end. It seems like the front end jumps around under sudden braking. Finally I have to say I am dissapointed with with the vehicles performance. I seem to have to downshift going up great gradients and enabling the trailer mode for the transmission to get any performance out of the truck. Honestly I know that you will probably laugh at this, but my 87 Ramcharger (360 CI) makes this truck look like a sissy as far as speed and torque. I am almost afraid to take it offroad like I did with my Ramcharger. I think the Ramcharger has better performance and offroad ability. I know however this truck is more of a "Yuppie Mobile" if you will and really isn't designed to be beaten like the Ram is. I am probably comparing apples to oranges in this matter. But other than that I cannot say I don't like the truck. It has been everything I have wanted and asked for. I just think at times I should have gone with the 2500 with the 8.1 liter.

General comments?

The cab is roomy, you can get 6 people in the truck and it is comfortable. With the back out and the plates out it is like driving a convertible there is no experience like it. It is a handsome elegant truck that can use some improvements, but overall I like it and I'm proud to own it.

I've owned my avalanche for over 3 years now, and absolutely love it. The only disappointing thing about it, is the "pep" off the line. It has plenty of torque, tows awesome, has plenty of speed, but passing gear is not quick enough.

I've owned trucks & SUV's all my life, and I honestly can't think of a better vehicle. You get the convenience of a truck, with the comfort of an SUV. I highly recommend anyone getting one.

I have had my Avalanche For just over a year. I put a K&N air filter in it $50.00 Installed a velocity tuner in it from grille-tech cost $10.00, and bought a superchip about $400.00 and reprogrammed it. It's a different truck now. It woke it right up. It's no 8.1L, but it does not use the fuel like one either. I like it so much that I almost bought another one for my wife.
