1964 MG Midget Mk II from Singapore - Comments

4th May 2006, 09:21

"Budget Fun, Classic Looks, Great Smiles all around - including pedestrians"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Upon delivery I replaced:

Starter Solenoid

New Brakes

New Suspension

New Speedo

New Tachometer

Replaced Radiator.

Runs very nicely after S$1200 worth of repairs (Would have cost UKP2000 in UK!!)

General comments?

Great Fun, Friendly

Everyone waves.

Quite economical in fuel. In Singapore road tax is truly quite tiny at $861 per year.

Quite workable as a daily driver - but windscreen wipers are pretty pathetic in a tropical Singapore rainstorm.

Love it!

Great to see these classics running about! Keep her going!Where did you get your parts for the car in Singapore? I have a 1964 Morris Minor and looking for parts in Singapore. I am not sure who supplies these in Singapore.

6 month update.

Some serious welding and repaint job done - took one month!

$1500 which is UKP500.

Transmission joints all seized - so replaced.

New Carburettor ordered from Moss Europe web site. UKP300. Amazing! it arrived in 3 days after web order placed in UK to Singapore!

I know this is a superold thread, but no harm trying! May I know where the speedo and tacho were sourced from? Need to make the same replacement myself. Thanks.
