The CD player died at only 11000 kms which was very annoying, but was replaced by dealer. Power aeriel motor had to be replaced at 26000 kms, also fixed under warranty.
The car has surprised me with its reliability. I do a lot of driving and considering only small things have gone wrong I've been quite happy with my kia.
I bought the car to replace my horrible VN commodore, although in the kia uses much less fuel then the holden, its also a lot less powerful, and dosnt pull quite as well, although its adequate. The only really downside to the car seems to be the transmission. It never seems to be able to find the right gear, which usually results in me using the tiptronic shifter. I love the interior, very comfortable standard leather, and one of the key reasons I bought the car was because of the many standard safety features, dual airbags, ABS, end and traction control. Anyway generally I'm very pleased the car has done well for a cheap alternative to the australian built 6 cylinders.
Hi, I am interested in an optima and test drove one. I agree with the transmission it never can find the right gear, when I threw it round a corner I accelerated and there was a pause while found the gear. its quite annoying. PPS: with your power aerial can you put it up and down whenever you want, does it go down when you turn off the engine!!!
Hi! many people comment on transmission problems. My 05 Optima was not the happiest. When cold in winter, would snatch. Also hangs onto 3rd after a long climb. Simple we spoke with the oil company used their recommendation and fixed this.
Mine is the v6 Auto. Most of my driving is long distance ie the next town is 100 kilometers away. 32 mpg. 38000 ks.
