"Great if you can live with it's faults"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Mag cap comes off.

Mags got easily dented.

Headlights keep burning out!!

Only dealer can change them!!

General comments?

The torque steer on this car is very bad.

The car never feels like it's going straight.

The steering wheel shimmy's all the time at highway speed. I had the tires balanced at nissan... but I saw no difference.

The headlight system is totally stupid and expensive. I consider it a rip off.

The manu-matic is a little slow to shift and can be annoying to use.

The dash is weird and the interior looks cheap. The material used on the doors looks especially totally cheap.

The radio controls and dash buttons are a real pain. The power window motors seem rather weak and noisy.

The engine is awesome, the supension is excellent, the tranny is excellent, the seats are very comfortable.

Get an alignment to fix the front end whoas.

Torque steer on a car like this with a high powered V6 is nothing to be surprised at.

All those interior things should have been noticed before you bought it.

If you didn't like the car, then you should not have bought it. You should have noticed these things on the test drive.

Don't bash a car if you can't live with its layout... also the head lights can be replaced by yourself... if you know how.

The torque steer comment deserves no reponse.

The shimmy is a known problem on these cars to which Nissan has no fix. Mine has a shimmy from 80 to 100km/hr which I can live with. This has nothing to do with tires or balancing of the tires. Go to http://forums.maxima.org/ to get more info on this problem.

I love my interior and as mentioned, the headlights and/or bulbs are easy to replace.

If you want to see cheap cars, check out any domestic for excessive flash or parting lines from their injection molding processes, poor colour matching of interior trim/dash/glove box/etc, and poor adhesive properties on interior trim. Also, Nissan carpet/seating is much more durable than domestics.

After reading all the reviews on the 2004 Maxima I must admit I'm a little hesitant to buy one. Any reports on a 2005? 2004 was first year with new design could that be the issue. Don't know if I should buy one now.

Try road force balancing your tires, the power of the car makes the tires slip on the bead, crappy wheels!
