Apart from usual wear and tear items such as tyres and exhaust, absolutely nothing.
My Nissan Almera SRi is by no means the fastest car in the world, but is great as a very reliable run around.
The car isn't that great on the motorway and the bumpy ride can leave you feeling tired on long journeys. However for short journeys around the town etc the car is great.
100BHP means that this car is reasonably quick for this size of car, achieving 0-60 in about 10 seconds.
Quick enough to beat standard 1.6 models by most other manufacturers, and also cheap to insure at (group 7).
The ride is firm, so the car has excellent cornering ability.
The dashboard is naff, but the sporty style seats add to the ride, along with the leather faced gear knob and steering wheel.
And another thing, this engine has a cam chain instead of a belt, meaning greater reliability and less expense.
Patches of rust are starting to appear around the wheel arches. Not unheard of with this year and model.
Agreed friend, the only way you will get any problems with a cam chain driven engine is if the oil is not changed religiously, or it is redlined everywhere, thus stretching the chain faster. Of course eventually it will need doing.
I got my american car to 283k miles, Saturn SL2 1993 chain motor. It then started rattling. I believe it was the chain knocking the timing out some.
I am looking at getting an Almera SRi when I get back to the U.K. I am a huge fan of Japanese cars for the cash! Is there any rust on it?
