2005 Suzuki Swift + from North America - Comments

"I have been duped"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Cylinder head replaced at 19,000kms.

Ignition coil replaced.

Gas leak.

Engine surging.

Erratic idling.

Poor fuel economy. Careful driving produces 25mpg, well below posted rate.

General comments?

This car is not a Suzuki, it is a re badged Daewoo Kalos. That is misrepresentation.

Nine months into ownership all the problems that became evident in the first few weeks, still exist.

The gas leak, now confirmed by four separate auto repair shops, is denied by the Suzuki warranty representative.

That's a shame that you have had such a lemon my dad has had his swift since 1989 and it is a fabulous little car, never had any probs with it at all, never let him down. They just don't make them like they used to!

This is not the same as the new Swift in Europe!

I think ur talking about the wrong car!

Suzuki swift in australia is a 1.5 ltr engine. and the sports model is 1.6 ltr engine in 5spd only.

The daewoo kalos looks nothing like this car...

European Swifts are the new (Mini-style) type, other markets get the awful rebadged Daewoo Kalos type.

Suzuki sells both cars as Swifts, though the new type is vastly superior.

Try USA Google and UK Google if in doubt.

I wonder if both types get the standard European interior rattles?!

Further to the above, it appears that America gets the old Kalos rebadged as a Swift and everywhere else including Australia the new type.

Anyone have any more info?

I live in Singapore and own a 2005 "new" Swift 1.5auto VVT. Mine was made in Japan and I have no interior plastic rattles issue. The only main complaint I have is the car is static even in a humid place like Singapore. The dealer put in some rubber insulation in the engine compartment and this has helped a great deal. The car is great to drive and it handles very well. Why pay more for a Mini :)

In Canada, Suzuki sells a rebadged Chevrolet Aveo (Daewoo Kalos) and calls it the Swift+. Suzuki does not sell the Swift+ in the United States. It's offered only as a Chevrolet Aveo. North America doesn't get the european swift until about 2010. Sorry to hear your Swift+ is a bad model. I had a 1998 Suzuki Swift (Chevrolet Metro LSI). It was a fun tough reliable little car. The transmission went at 200 000 km, so I had to get rid of it.
