2000 Daewoo Nubira from North America - Comments

"When something goes wrong with this car, it is usually something big."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When something goes wrong with this car, it is usually something big, and finding parts is very difficult.

I have also spent a lot of money on finding a mechanic who knows how to work on this vehicle; most of the time they guess at the problem and I have to order different parts until the problem is found.

In the time that I have owned this car (since 2000 when it was new) I have had several major problems.

First, a mysterious oil leak that emptied my engine every 10 miles and I ended up replacing all the gaskets on the engine to resolve the problem.

Also, my windshield wipers have not worked for years – I took it into the service center before they went out of business and they could not even figure out the problem with the wipers…they still do not work.

The front boot wore out and I had to replace my tires every 3 months for a year until I was able to find replacement parts – the mechanic could not even do an alignment until the boot was replaced.

And now coolant is running straight out of my car, and I can not drive for more than 5 minutes without the car overheating – I think the water pump needs replacing, but only time will tell if that is the case.

General comments?

I loved this car when I first bought it, but it has turned out to be a huge mistake. I regret buying this car almost daily; its less reliable than the car it replaced which was over 15 years old.

Every car now and then has problems. Probably you have a lemon car.

But from you say, you have no mechanic. That is the main problem. If there is no service for that car around, go to a private one, find someone knowledgeable.

I have never heard of anyone losing all the oil or coolant, and not figuring out how that happened. These kind of leaks leave so big and visible trails that a kid looking under the car could point them out.

Find a mechanic first. What you have now... you have to send them for recycling...
