2000 SAAB 9-5 SE from North America - Comments

"An absolute waste of hard earned money"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Mostly all of my seals were leaking at 55000 miles SID gone at 58000 Turbo and Throttle body replaced at 82000 miles in addition to all seals with the exception of head gasket which will likely be next.

General comments?

Without doubt the worst car I have ever owned Repair costs through the roof Going back to Camry for good.

This is the worst review I've ever read, on the worst car you've ever owned.

You give your Saab a 3 out of ten in performance?!!!

What a crock!

I agree, just because you did not like the reliability of the car, it doesn't mean it can't perform well. How could you possibly go from a Saab 9-5 to a boring dull and ugly Japanese Toyota Camry. GM is working very hard now to promote more reliable Saab products. For some reason, both Volvo and Saab had horrible reliability ratings in the late 1990s and early 2000s, along with most other European car makers who have had many issues.

How could this person go from a Saab 9-5 to a Camry? That's easy. Resale value. Saabs have terrible resale value. A comparable used Camry (much cheaper new) of same year and mileage costs MORE than the Saab. It makes no sense, but it's true. It's all about supply and demand. Camrys are much more in demand in the US than Saabs, therefore they retain their value better.

If this person says the seals, turbo, throttle body, etc were all blown having such low mileage, I'd have to say it's a poorly designed car. Who wants or expects to deal with all that so soon on a vehicle? To say it can still perform good illustrates you don't understand that a vehicle has to be capable of performing it's basic duty... transporting you from point A to point B reliably. Apparently this person's Saab didn't cut it. Nothing hard to understand there.
