During the first few years of owning the car, it was fine. Then once it turned 10 years old, major things happened to the car.
My wife and I bought the car brand new in 1983. It was like a sand beige color with burgundy interior. It had all of the power buttons in it. It did have the deluxe wheel covers as well on it.
At first, we began to really like the car. All 3 of our kids, who are now grown up and have kids of their own, liked the car as well. The car was very roomy, very comfortable, and lots of power while on the road.
The reason for getting rid of the car? Well, with all of the problems that we had with it once it turned 10 years old, we felt it was time to get rid of it. We made the foolish mistake of trading it in at the time for a brand new 1994 Ford Taurus. Now that was a big mistake!
There are times when my wife and I wish we could have just had it fully repaired so that we could still enjoy driving it. However, we do indeed miss the car that we called "Sandy".
Buick Centurys were not available with a 3.8 liter V6 in 1983. Your car either had the 2.8 Liter or 3.0 Liter V6, or else it is a newer model.
