2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Base from North America - Comments

"Most bang for the buck in the world!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing.

General comments?

I looked for quite some time to try to find a car for under $12K BRAND NEW! Nothing out there came CLOSE to the PT. THERE IS SOMETHING TO BE SAID FOR A GOOD POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO, and the PT is a shining example of this. It's amazing how many cars you can blow away with the little 5 speed "hand shaker!"

Handling isn't phenomenal, but, quite good. When fitted with a good set of aftermarket wheels and tires, this lightweight little rocket ROCKS!

There is so much room inside! You can carry 5 adults with plenty of legroom!

I like everything about this car! For under $12K, you get A/C, keyless entry, alarm, electric windows. The dash is GREAT. The economy is terrific... over 30mpg!

Try one and chances are, you'll buy one!

30mpg??? I consistently hear how poorly the PT's mileage is...your's is the first one I've heard of getting over 30mpg (even if that is on the highway)! I mean virtually everyone says its gas mileage is bad or needs improvement.

I rented one yesterday and got 24 doing 74mph...was surprised considering what I've read too. This was an automatic '06.

Otherwise, thanks for the review!

30mpg on the highway isn't unrealistic. I have an '06 base model with a 5 speed, and during the summer, and running synthetic motor oil, I have been consistently getting 26mpg. On the highway, doing 100kmh, I will get 33mpg, and around 27mpg doing 125kmh. (All mpg is based on US gallons) The auto wouldn't come close to these figures.

I've owned the PT for a year and a half, and am still as pleased from day 1.
