1996 Renault Espace RT Alize from UK and Ireland - Comments

Alternator Failed at 100,000 Miles.

Rear left Window motor failed at 156,000.

Other than that no other faults to talk about, however as with most cars the exhaust, brakes, and filters need replacing at regular intervals.

I Have had my Espace from new and before this had never kept a car for more than 5 years.

However this car is so comfortable. I have driven all the German prestige cars and I can tell you none beat the comfort of my Espace.

INTERIOR.

My Espace RT Alise is the mid range Limited edition and therefore benefits from;

Remote central locking.

Air conditioning.

Adjustable, pivoting front seats.

ABS.

Headlight washers.

Roof rails.

Sunroof.

Clean and tidy car.

Heated rear window.

Rear washwipe.

Adjustable steering column/wheel.

Anti theft system.

Child locks.

Cloth upholstery.

Colour coded exterior & interior.

Driver airbag.

Electric mirrors.

Electric windows.

Head restraints.

Folding rear seats.

Power assisted steering.

Remote locking.

Radio/Cassette.

Seat-back tables.

Fog-lights.

The list goes on.

Overall the interior is comfortable if not a tad dated compared to its rivals. The only person who has has discretion is my mother in law (forever the pessimist)

She says the back seats are cramped if two sit in there.

EXTERIOR.

I have my own opinion on this area

same as I am sure, you have.

I Think the Espace is the most attractive M.P.V. in this sector and age group. However as I said just you all can make your own decision on this area.

PERFORMANCE & HANDLING.

This car won't win awards for the land speed records however it manages a respectable 72MPH in third gear and has a top speed of 107MPH.

This car handles like it's on rails

also it can turn heads when it's 130* wheel lock means it can squeeze into those tight spaces.

Overall.

The Espace carries its years lightly and remains one of the most versatile cars in the world

It can be changed from a comfortable lounge on wheels to a double divan bed in seconds (with the help of an air bed).

Had the Espace Turbo Diesel Alize N reg since 1997. Done 140,000 miles so far. Excellent overall value. Great family car, travelling all over Europe with the caravan in tow. Vital to keep on top of regular servicing and fixing consumable parts that all cars need replacing. Still looks the very best MPV. Want it to last forever!
