Since buying this truck in 2004, I have not had to replace one part. Just keep changing the oil and treating it well and it will run forever.
The 5.3L has amazing power. It can white smoke an entire intersection and cruise like a buick. It beats the 5.8L F-150's no problem and gives a Hemi a run for it's money. The handling is alright, but hey, it's a truck. The gas mileage is pretty good if you don't lay your foot in it, but that is easier said than done with these things. I will definitely buy another Silverado, but I'm not sure if I want to get the older SS or the new 2007's. If you want a truck that was built like a rock pick a Silverado!
I have a 2004 Silverado which has been really great as well. I have a brand new 3" cat back true dual exhaust system, new factory rims, tires, upgraded sound system. These are simple upgrades nothing that was really necessary to replace. Just a mild tasteful custom for fun. I removed the original badging with a heat gun on low and replaced with factory SS trim and on the 3rd light changed the dash overlay and added carbon graphite pedals. Its just a nice truck if it was a car I would buy a real SS only. It has also been great for fixing up my house a lot better than my previous small trucks. Its simpler to do basic maintenance and change the oil and filter is also a breeze.
