Alternator had to be replaced after 11000 miles of ownership.
Transmission was rebuilt at 160,000 miles and is acting funny again.
Replaced front end gears and mechanical parts because of age.
Power windows are sticky.
Uhhh, nothing else really.
This jeep is a great vehicle! easy to drive, lots of power, handles not badly, reletively comfortable, and tows very well. last year, I had the wheels replaced with the limited model rims from a friends 1998 cherokee, and now it looks really nice. my wife doesn't like it though, so she sticks to her Bravada which I think is a peice of crap. the only problem I'm really having with mine is that the transmission takes about 4 seconds to switch into reverse in the mornings when its cold, same as drive. but after the first 2, its fine. I fell that I could trust it with my life, it has never let me down. offroad capabilities are astounding and I have yet to get stuck.
Definitly a vehicle worth looking into!
I had a 94 Grand Cherokee with the V8 and I have to agree on all of your comments. I had the poor thing up to the headlights in water. You know what it did? Drove through and shook it off as if it were saying "that doesn't bother me!". Constantly beating on this Jeep would not even phase it. Fuel pump finally said goodbye at 140K. Loved that Jeep and hope to purchase another in the future.
Original poster- why did you get rid of it?
Anyways, the jeep is still going strong, despite the fact that I nose-dived it at 35 mph on the beach. whoooohoo that was fun! I had a fog lamp fall out and that was it!I've since also pulled 4 trees out of the ground with it, and oh boy did it struggle. I gotta hand it to the transmission though, with it acting funny and all. I'm suprised I didn't blow it, being as it was constantly revving and bogging, with the 4 wheel drive not allowing the wheels to spin much. I was expecting to hear a grind and then red line the engine, but nope! God I love well built, rugged vehicles!
I have the sme problem with my cherokee 5.2 with the tranmission. it shift really slowly into and out of reverse in the morning. I also have 188,900 miles on it.
I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it has believe it or not 256,000 miles, it still runs great, but I got to say it has lost lots of horse power, its not as strong as it used to be, Jeeps are something else that's why I love them."its just a jeep thing" OllllO (jeep logo)
