I have a chevrolet corsica 4 door 2.2 litre 8 valve TBI (throttle body injected)
Since I got this car the alternator went out and everthing I've done to this car I did it myself. I am a mechanic and I know how to fix things. alternator went out not to long ago I bought a new one for $60.
I replaced the oil pan gasket because it started to leaker. which cost me around lik 30-40 bucks with oil and filter and gasket. time consuming and need a lot of tools for job. my advice for that is take it to dealership.
I broke the accelerator cable when I was cleaning my throttle body and that cost 30 bucks for the accelerator cable. 40 minutes to an hour to do. not a hard job.
I changed the battery and starter same time starter cost with core 70 bucks and battery at walmart for 40 bucks.
A lot of things on this car is just basic maintnance this is car very reliable and at 200,000 miles later still running strong. there may not be enough room in the back, but still good gas mileage and great for your dollar. general maintnance includes things lik fuel filter spark plugs and wires and such you need to be doing those and oil changes ezactly at 3,000 miles. keep it up and ur car will last a whole lot longer.
I changed my transmission gasket and filter and semi trans fluid change not expensive at all for these things.
I put in a new blower motor for the heck of it cause my heater fuse blew and I stupidly bought a new one without checking fuse. cost me 25 bucks and 5 min to change. but fuse kept blewing when I switch it out of vent and for some odd reason it fixed itself after a few months. very odd, but I don't care I'm glad I can use my defrost now especially winter is now starting.
I have done coolant flush which is part of maintance.
My a/c never worked since I got this car, but prob because my a/c compressor stopping working on me.
My car used to stall on me and everything and it was cause of the recircut by the engine and just unplug it and ran just fine no stalling.
My advice is get this car and keep it. it will keep running til the last bolt falls off. I love my corsica and safe. I hit a dog going 60 mph (55 speed limit) dog died and I felt bad, my g/f was with me and she loves animals and training to be a vet and damage I done to my car was busted the headlight (20 bucks and junkyard) and bent the fender a lil. anyways this car is great and even with 8 valve 4 cylinder engine it has good speed to it. I went 120 mph with this car, but I don't speed no more. but still I'm 18 gotta be crazy once in awhile this car is very reliable and repairs doesn't cost much and most repairs you can do urself. I love this car I just wish it has less mileage. I go out of town about every weekend or every other weekend and hope you found wha ur seeking for.
I was just wondering if this boy would like another 1991 Corsica.
