"One vehicle that you should worry about"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My aunt actually bought it for me as an gift. I didn't even get a chance to put 100 miles on the car before I got problems. My aunt got the Pathfinder a diagnostic at Pep Boys.

The mechanic stated that I had a severe fuel leak at hose front of fuel rail, it was running poor due to misfire condition from worn ignition system, no codes are stored in the system, belts were noisy, tachometer does not operate, stalls due to carbonated throttle body, distributor is slightly noisy, glove box doesn't close (I can care less about a glove box).

So, this is the work that was done to my car.

Distributor cap (rotor replaced)

spark plugs and wires

ignition rotor

fuel filter

fuel rail system cleaned

injector throttle

mass air flow sensor fuel injection

air filter

3 Belts replaced

alternator drive belt

oil change.

So far so good until one day. I discovered something else.

But, one thing that does worry me though. The car makes a strange annoying rattling noise when it goes into the second gear and third gear (and the car feels vibrant). It sorta stalled on me too. I try to give it some more power, but I didn't want to make problems worse. So, I just pulled over to a parking lot. I turned the car off and waited for a few minutes. I tried to start the car again, but a check light came on. I started to trip. But I waited and turned the car on again and it came on and I made it home. Before this incident, the car made the same noise, but it went away after I shifted into the next gear. I made it home and haven't really drove it yet again. I'm kinda scared and I really need this Pathfinder not to fail me from here on, I have a really busy schedule and I'm going to need it to get me around.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!

General comments?

Pros:

Passenger and Cargo Room

Anti-lock brakes

4WD

good in harsh weather conditions

smooth ride

Dashboard controls very easy to access.

Cons:

fuel economy (not that great in gas at all, 15/18 is the best you will get with an auto trans)

rear view is hindered because of the spare tire in the back (if you're a short person or don't have a good eyesight, this may be a problem)

common Pathfinder repairs, be prepared to come to spend a few more dollars than you would on an usual vehicle (make a junkyard your friend and you can save some $$$).

Are you serious?! you call all those problems? OIL CHANGE!? only four (4) of those can be remotely considered problems, the rest is entirely routine maintenance.

This is the author of this thread. I am mainly worried about the rattling, vibrant noise. Not sure what it is, but I'm really hoping that its not a big problem (drove it today and it made the same noise again, but it went away again). Other than that, no complaints here.

Sounds like the clutch needs attention or replaced soon... internal clutch plates causing the vibration perhaps.

Its automatic transmission. Do you think that same problem may apply to auto trans as well? I'm not really sure what it is either.

Vibration could be as simple as exhaust pipe heat shields rattling.
