Sqeeking Brakes.
Rattles from Dash and cabin.
Steering knocks over bumps.
The good news: good looking, Well build, Comfortable seats, The 1.5cdi engine is economical and performwell, Safe Handling and excelent safety levels.
Bad news: Stiff suspension sends vibrations to the cabin, Stiff Ride and figits over poor roads at low speeds, Ride improves gratly as speed increase.
Bumps are the worst enemy in the Megane, The car figits hard on bumps and steering knocks.
U need to have a firm Grip on the steering wheel to prevent the wheel from snatching back from a middle coner to another.
Relaiabilty I can't say anything its too soon to coment I let you know Later.
Overall a huge dissapointment From Renault I did not except to be a stiff Ride, once The renault 19 and Renault 5 where famed for there ride and handling balance, but not anymore.
Ride and handling are not bad the megane rides superb at high speed and the ride sattles, Body Roll is limited and there is plenty of grip, but it is to stiff and you feel bumps and pothols into your back, and to much enter to much noise into the cabin.
Comments above are absolutely rubbish! I had a renault 5 and my uncle had a 19. The Meg2 today are a huge improvement in all sectors including engine, performance, handling, reliability, build, drive etc. R U sure you were driving a Meg2 after your comments above, after all? or were u driving something else like a Pug?
French cars are no longer famed for ride and Handling I have lots of experience in French cars, I drove a Renault 5 before it was a better riding than the Megane 2 it had a soft ride and handling was superb, The new golf, Opel Astra, Ford Focus offers a much better drive than a French car.
The Megane 2 is not a bad car, it rides well and handles well, but the steering lacks feel and the ride is firm bumps and potholes makes them selfs felt into the cabin espsialy sharp intrusions wich upset the steering and the car knocks, over miner imperfections and other poor roads its OK, Drive a focus, Astra, or golf and see the difference.
Renault and other French makers need to get back in the old school and bring back that traditional soft ride back.
See the comments of what car magazine and every French is not famed any more for ride and handling except some like Citroen c5 wich have a outstanding ride comfort OK, but not handling, and the steering? most are having a dissapointed steering which is electrically operated and lacks feel not like the power assisted like old French cars wich uses an oil pump and offerd a superb feel.
