Needed to have the rear right door panel replaced because my clumsy son slipped when he was getting out, and his place to grab was the top of the trim piece. his fall, and all of his 170 pounds cracked the top of it, as well as nearly yanking it out of the door.
The number 5 cylinder began to mis-fire at around 66000 miles, mechanic fixed.
Nothing else.
Fairly powerful with the V-10, but it's a complete waste. It has to be the biggest gas guzzler on the face of the planet, I get an average of 9-10. terrible! It sounds so strong though, but it can't tow all that well. I should have gone with the diesel. The 4x4 works wonderfully. The inside gives off a huge, airy feel well, because it IS. It is very cozy, and is packed with features. I can barely reach across and touch my wife's shoulder in the passenger seat. The leather looks sharp with the rich wood trim stuff. The dashboard feels cheap though. Tt has a pretty hard ride too, very bumpy.
It's very reliable, and I would recommend it to anyone, but get the diesel. The 5.4 is just plain too small, and the V-10 is powerful, but it's a gas hog. The diesel doesn't hog gas very much, and it can tow a building.
It should be a person's personal choice what he drives- regardless of how much gas it uses! not all of us want to drive a pop can on wheels!

Sorry, but that's simply not the case and the federal government has taken steps over the years to prove that (mandatory airbags, gas guzzler tax on cars, etc.).
Yeah, you can drive your Excursion. Just make sure you pay the FULL cost including a gas guzzler tax, a war-for-oil tax, and lots of other taxes you should be paying.
Agreed. people should be able to drive whatever they feel suits their needs, or what they like.
In these excursions, diesel is the only way to go! they just make more sense. sorry you have to deal with the V-10. I hear that if you put your foot down hard enough, the mpg will drop down to less than one. I can't even do that in my 88 suburban, the lowest I've gotten it to read was 3 mpg, with the 350.

No you are better off with the V-10. I am replacing all of my fleet 6.0 diesels with V-10s for 2008. The 6.0 has way too many injector issues. Plus the maintenance on a gas engine is much cheaper, as is the cost of diesel fuel.
I've never heard of a single problem with the injector issues. And according to my math, being that my Excursion only gets at best 9-10, when I can be getting a consistant 18MPG out of the diesel, and adding in the 18 cent price difference, I would be saving rather a lot of money.
I have a 2000 with the V-10 and I love it. I get 12mpg in town, on the highway driving 65mph I get 17mpg and at 79mph I get 16mpg. I have 95,000 miles on it with minor problems on the years. Until the socialist environmentalists take over this country, we are free to buy whatever car we like regardless of the gas mileage.
Look folks.
I have owned two Excursions 5 years apart from the other.
The Diesels are Noisy Pollution if you want to argue points.
People can't hear their stereos at the traffic lights when they're anywhere 10 to 20 feet from us.
I owned a 2000 Black. Now I have a 2004 White. Both bought used. The Black with 40 k miles on it the White with 30k.
All V10 ROCKETS. What is soooooo bad with that choice? Frankly I don't see any negative anything about V10 Rockets. Most people are envious and jealous you had the GaHoney's to actually buy one of these Last remaining Dinosaurs.
Which by the way WILL last you and me
Noted: ( ( (10 Plus years <---<<<<<) ) ) ANd haul most of the crap we own back and forth to the dumpsters behind pizza hut if that's where you take yours.
I paid 32k for the 2000 with a trade in of 3,800k for a Aerostar with 112,000 miles on it. Bought the 4 yr warranty dding on 2 more k and put 3k down. Ouch wish I hadn't bought the warranty. You don't need it for this Heavy Duty T.R.U.C.K. Financed 28k at 630 Taco's a month.
Beam yourself Scotty to 2007, July.
Traded a 2001 Grand Prix with 107,000 miles on it now from the past 33k starting out. Oh Yeah I traded my 2000 Excursion in for it when I got laid off.
Now back to Xcursheeee speak.
G.P traded in. Then I dirve the baaazeeeepers out of it.

Awesome Kick A deal, thanks be to God!
I financed the Beast sure, like anybody else.
But the ride is sooooooooooooo Luxurious you think you are in a limo folks. V 10 action welll... golly gee wilikers is like... ummmm you don't feel a bump and you don't think you are going 85 mph down the I70- speed way to heaven.
It is such a great peice of artwork. I will never ever sell it. This rig is going to go with me to my grave. So if I die in 20 years and this road show keeps on truckin guess what?
Heavens Gates lets me in at age 71.
