2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT from North America - Comments

"I love it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought the Grand Prix on January 18, 2007, the car had 262000 miles on it.

I paid $1,900 for the car as is, it is running great and it drives great.

I haven't had any problems with it until recently. When I turn on the heater, it gives off this smell, and I can't quite figure out what it is. I have checked all the fluids and everything is OK, it doesn't burn anything, and it doesn't appear to be leaking anything.

When I bought the car everything was original, down to the spark plugs (it's had oil changes and new tires and basic stuff like that), but I still can't seem to find out what the smell is coming from. Does anyone know?

General comments?

The car is in excellent condition, it has no rust on the body and it runs and drives great.

It looks excellent and the interior is in excellent shape. Although it does have a lot of miles on it.

Sounds like your blower (heater) motor is on the way out.

I own a 2000 Grand Prix with 96k miles. I am pleased with this car, but lately the steering wheel initially stiffens up when the vehicle is started up then loosens after a short while. I had a nationally known shop take a look and they wanted to replace the rack and pinion along with the realignment. The cost they wanted me to pay was $1,800. I took my keys and got out of there quick. Could there be another cause for the steering stiffness and was this shop trying to give me the shaft?

Bill.
