What things have gone wrong with the car?

The accessories relay has failed once.

Engine cut out without warning.

General comments?

This car was bought at a car yard in a school play ground for $5000.

It was fitted with a factory cruise control and that sealed the deal.

This is the first Ford I have owned and it was cheap to buy, has been cheap and reliable to run.

The Ford dealer I take it to for services offer good service although I prefer my mechanic because at Ford you don't get to talk to the person who fixed you car. Apart from that they've been fine.

Although the build quality is questionable, reliability is comparable to the Toyota's I have owned and anyone who has owned a Corolla will know that that's a big call.

These cars are a better shape that the AU series because the back is squarer which makes it easier for adults to get into the back seats without banging their heads on the roof and the EB-II has a flat floor in the boot. Also more economical on fuel that BA model.

The air conditioner has rear vents and is very effective which is a must in Australia.

Hello all.

I have owned my second-hand 1992 Falcon EBII since 1996. It is in excellent condition and nothing ever goes wrong with it (except typical Falcon Head Gasket issues). Mechanics have often commented on how what good condition the car is in.

I have driven the car on many >1000km drives since I work in the mining industry... often on dirt roads from Mt Isa to the snowfields from Townsville to Sydney.

Added extractors in 2005 and noticed a strong increase in power... felt like a new car. I would recommend this highly to anyone with any standard model Falcon! Nothing else done and car has a beautiful exhaust note... some people even ask me if it is a V8 I have under the bonnet!

I dropped a second hand (non reconditioned) ED engine in 2006 after head gasket problems (that's because I thrashed the living crap out of the last engine... my fault LOL).

I have heard that falcon engines that make that stronger "tap-tap-tap" noise have had a harder life. I only rev mine now when the engine is warm.

Being a 4.0 litre Falcon, this was the first of the multi-point fuel injected models. She drinks a bit, but I save money in less maintenance issues. From the 75 litre tank I can get 750km on the open highway, and maybe 450km around town (but I am one of those people that shoots off first at the lights, so that is not too bad economy considering the way I drive LOL... how can I not if there is some young guy in a Lancer or Hyundai sitting next to me with his 'doof doof' going!?).

The car starts every time. Has over 230,000km on the clock. Cannot speak more highly of this car... it is so good, I have no urge to get a new one.

Bought a new great Pioneer stereo for it 2 years ago when I once had crazy urges to buy a new expensive car to make it 'feel newer' haha. Maybe I was just lucky with the purchase... it's the luck of the draw I guess.

I ensure to park mine in the shade wherever possible, because I have seen the condition of old Falcons when they have spent most of their lives in the sun.. especially the dashboards crack. Mine is in top condition because it has always been in the shade, paint is near new dark green variety.

Although a 1992 model she still looks OK on the road... yet that is my totally biased opinion.

The roof upholstery is starting to sag, may have to have that fixed... this is a normal Falcon issue.

Air con has been reconditioned and works as new.

Gearbox is smooth and never any issues.

I have treated it well in my 11 years of ownership, and it has rewarded me with many years of good driving.

Stuff buying a new car, I invest my money instead and hang on to this old reliable beast.
