"A lovely car until its problems are uncovered"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have had my 106 for around 4 months. After only 6 days, it wouldn't start. After an hour of persistence, I left it, and came back, and it started first time. This happens every couple of weeks, and sometimes it can cut out at junctions.

The front windscreen leaked, leaving puddles of water throughout the car, and the insulation under the carpet still has not dried out to this date, leaving a horrendous cabbage smell.

My breakdown cover company have told me that my car has an "intermittent electrical fault" - I have got to know them well over the 4 months! They can't pinpoint the exact problem, but when driving over 70mph or shortly after driving on a motorway, the car will lose power when accelerating.

The car scratches very easily. Without doing them myself, my car seems to have around 10 different scratches and bumps compared to the 1 when I bought it. I have no idea how the majority of them came to be, but the paintwork seems to damage easily.

My boyfriend says the pedals are far too close together, and he presses 2 at a time if he is not careful. I have smaller feet and haven't found this though.

General comments?

The car, if the problems are forgotten, is a beautiful little car. I fell in love with its lovely deep blue colour, and its nippy accelerating, although it shakes badly at only 70mph.

The car does at least 300 miles to a tank of petrol, which only costs me around £25. It handles well on country roads, but isn't a good motorway car.

The headlights light on the dashboard sometimes goes out and you have to hit the dashboard for it to light up again.

I have owned this car and to be honest it is a great car for a first time driver or for a cheap run about. it can reach good speed in a good time, but not good taking corners and brakes are weak at time. 1 main good thing about this car is you don't have to look far to get cheap parts for it and also a great car for a project car or training cor for mechanical side of the job.
