My mechanic says its got bad headgasket.
I bought this unit from some kid for 200 bucks. The mechanic said it overheated and that the headgaskets are bad. Said that when you backout head bolts they take threads from alloy block with them. We can't even find anybody who will attempt this operation. Car crusher fodder!!

- It wasn't even worth that. The 1995 Aurora, which was a totally new design for Olds in the 1995 model year, was a terrible lemon because it was the first of its kind. This fact is well known among Aurora fans.
These cars were not "terrible lemons" as I know someone who has a 1995 that has been a good car overall. I would not buy the '95 because it is the first year model, but one also has to understand that Auroras are about as exotic as it gets when it comes to maintenance. Their components are relatively normal, but the car is styled in such a way that it makes access to these components incredibly difficult. For example, the battery is underneath the BACK SEAT!! And what a mess that has made under the seat of my friend's Aurora. This was a car for people who wanted something cooler than a Cadillac, but with all of the amenities.
One problem that I am looking for a solution to is that the radio has stopped working. We jumped the car off after it had been sitting for a while and now the stereo will NOT work. We read in the manual later that jumping the car off by connecting the cables to the battery itself instead of the charge points under the hood can endanger the radio, amp, whatever. HELP!!! How do we fix this? The radio does have power, but no sound is coming through, and it is not demanding a code.
To the writer of the second comment: There is an Aurora forum that has the greatest collection of knowledge about the Aurora on the entire net. The people there will be able to give you some advice about the radio. I have noted the site below.
