Same brake problems as everyone else. I have replaced calipers, rotors and it does okay for a few thousand miles, but goes right back to the shaking when braking.
I replaced the transmission twice, once under warranty and a second time at $2,000. The water pump has gone out twice and the radiator has been replaced as well.
The a/c stinks, but I have not even attempted to have that repaired. At 93,000 miles the cable for the rear window broke and I have been told I have to purchase the entire assembly which includes the motor and the cost for just the part is $280.00 plus labor.
This is a really poor excuse for a vehicle. I will never purchase another Chrysler product! I have always owned a Toyota which has been extremely reliable and low maintenance. I got 300,000 miles out of a 96 Toyota Celica and stills runs like new. Look out Toyota because I am coming back!
Hi, just a quick tip for you on the smelly Air Con. It smells because of mildew build in the heating system. To cure it is costs about £5 GBP, a small aerosol can from a car parts supplier for just this job. Ask at the counter they should know what your on about.
To do it follow the tin instructions. Basically you push the passenger seat forward and tip it forwards, put the a/c on cold and flat out. Put the tin on the rear passenger floor and click the aerosol on, close the doors/windows and leave for ten minutes.
Clean and fresh, and more importantly, healthier NO bacteria flowing round the interior! Do this once a year.
Hopes this helps?!
300000 miles in 6 years on your Celica? You must love driving.
