Has anyone else noticed that the Yaris hatch looks like a water bug? A $15,000 and rather large water bug, but a water bug none the less.

The Dodge Caliber looks like it was designed by a drunk Edward Scissorhands, so what's your point?

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. The yaris hatch on the other hand does in FACT look like a water bug and that my opinionated friend is my point.

Really? I've seen the Yaris look for two years now and never thought that ever. No one I know who has seen the Yaris has ever made the comment. In fact, most people I know find the car much more attractive than others in its class. That means that your comment is your OPINION.

Comparing the Yaris to the much larger, more powerful and more reliable Dodge Caliber is like comparing a Dodge Magnum Hemi to a Camry. How anyone can get excited over a car such as the HIDEOUS Yaris that looks like an emaciated Yugo is beyond me.

The yaris does in fact look like a water bug.

Clearly you are blind if you can't see the similarities. And of course no one you talk to would say the yaris is ugly since they're probably all Toyota fans.

Um, the Caliber may have more horsepower because that is because it is a significantly HEAVIER vehicle than the Yaris.

And given the Caliber is a Chrysler product you'll have to cite all your proof about its reliability.

The Yaris is just an average Japanese car with no standout features, but it is still lightyears ahead of the horrific looking, would have been competitive in 1990, Dodge Caliber.

Okay first of all, the Toyota Yaris doesn't even look like a water bug, obviously you need your eyes testing. That's my opinion and my advice. Also, I am a Nissan driver and find the yaris to be a nice looking car. At least it has a purpose and that's to be a small, economical, compact hatchback. What is the purpose of a Dodge Caliber?

18:07 needs to point out the Yaris' six legs, its flat body, and its brown/grey exoskeleton.

But I guess people will go to any lengths to degrade superior cars.

Yes the new "Yarfus" does, indeed, look a lot like a water bug. The resemblance is amazing, though the water bug looks a little more sporty. As for the "purpose" of the Yarfus, it is to make tons of money for Toyota by offering a poorly made, cheap car with as little material in it as possible at an outrageous price to people who know nothing about cars and care nothing about sportiness or performance.

Toyota is very good at this. They built a puny little truck (the Tundra) that had puny, nearly non-existent frame members, tiny little axle shafts the size of a pencil, and a motor that might be able to pull a small aluminum fishing boat up a 5% grade (in low range, of course). After 6 years of failures, they opted to move up a notch and copy many of the award-winning, bullet proof F-150's structural features and up the horsepower to where it is comparable to a V-6 Ranger. Of course they still charge 10 grand more for a lot less.

Other than having six legs a water bug's shape (not color) still bears a striking resemblance to the yaris. The overall shape of the bodies are very similar. And as far as the yaris being superior to anything... It's a small B car. No comfort, no performance, yet still a high price for what it is. I'd rather try to drive the water bug, at least it would be interesting to watch =).

Actually after looking at the hideously ugly, dog slow Honda Fit, the Yaris actually looks good in comparison. Of course, that's sort of like comparing Frankenstein to the Mummy.

The Yaris and Tundra are way better than any Ford ever built. At least they run right and don't catch on fire and blow up like Ford's do.

I'm not talking about the Pinto either, as much a disgrace as that was. Do some research on the heads on Ford trucks and SUV's between '97 and '02. They blow up and catch fire a lot.

I'll take the car that runs right and doesn't kill me in an explosion like a Ford very well might. The Toyota emblem on the front of a Tundra is worth more than a whole fleet of death trap F-150's by the way.

How is the Honda Fit "dog slow", an ironic term given most dogs are extremely fast.

The Fit is as fast as most SUVs out there including the Hummer H3, Land Rover LR3, Volvo XC90, and so on. And it beats a lot of cars in its class as far as speed.

As usual, you are obviously someone who has never seen or driven a Honda Fit, but only makes comments based on the fact it doesn't have a GM, Ford, or Chrysler name plate on it.

It can all be summed up like this. The Yaris is the water bug and the Fit is the roach bug. Spread the word.
