I also just bought a 88' De Ville. It's the best car I've had so far, the only problem with it is the passenger window.

The car has a powerful V8 5.0 liter engine. It's in very good shape. I bought it for $850 with 122,000 miles, and two days later I got an offer for $3,500. But in those two days, I fell in love with it, and I wouldn't sell it for anything. I know I would regret it if I ever see saw again and I'm in a piece of crap like a civic or some wheel-barrow like that.

Bottom line - I love my DeVille and I'm pretty sure I'll be a caddy man for the rest of my life.

I purchased a 1988 4.5L coupe deville 2 dr.,white /white top, gold pack, with luggage rack and factory sun/moon roof, automatic. with white walls 1/2 inch and gold prime porsche wheels this car is stock pimped from the factory. how many with the moon roof id like to know?I live in and exclusive area and there is one car betterlooking than mine and it's a 2006 benley saraph for about $365k and he leases that. this car is fast and I have others, but this is the most fun I've had on cheap wine dollars. this car has got to be a classic soon.

I've owned a 1988 blue Cadillac Sedan DeVille since 1993. I am totally in love with this car. I've had pretty much everything replaced including new transmission, except the engine and the fuel pump.

It's not my everyday car, so I dust it off every couple months and drive it. A few weeks ago I did just that, filled the tank ($46 later) and it was running fine. I made a stop at the grocery store and when I tried starting it, it wouldn't. Called the towing company and they couldn't get it to jump, so I had it towed back to my home.

A couple days later I attempted to start it and it started right up. About a week later, I tried to start it and it was dead.

I planned to donate the car, but when I told the organization about the dilemma, they decided not to take it. I'm keeping the car. I contacted a Cadillac dealer and had it towed there. It's still there - they put it a new battery, but as of yesterday, they couldn't figure out why it wasn't turning over. My mechanic thought it might be the fuel pump. Has anyone had a similar situation? I appreciate any comment you may have.

Thank you.

I just picked up a 88 DeVille with 77,000, on it, 1 owner perfect shape with all the records and maintenence papers. It was garage kept and pampered for its whole life. It has a 4.5, pearl gray, blue leather and all transferable warranties for paint and rust. My friends said that the 4.5 alluminum engine is a possible problem. What is the consensus on it? I paid $2000 for it.

I bought a 1988 Sedan Deville earlier this year from the 96 yr old original owner. It is Sapphire Blue with blue velour interior and looks like it just drove off the showroom floor. With only 45,000 miles, it drives like new. I had seen this car about 2 yrs earlier at a car wash. I asked the gentleman driving it if he ever wanted to sell, how much would he want? He replied "$12,000" dollars! I gave him my phone number and said if he ever wanted to sell for a more realistic price, call me. Fast-forward to Jan/08. The daughter of the elderly man called to say he was very ill and they wanted to sell the car to someone who would take care of it. I went to see the car and it had been sitting in a garage collecting dust. Fortunately, the owner was well off and had maintained this car diligently. He had replaced the power antenna, repainted the bumper at the dealership and washed it every week. I bought this beauty from the owner and it had been certified by the dealership he purchased it from 20 yrs earlier. I paid $2,000, put my plates on it and drove home. The A/C runs cold and the interior is spotless. The trunk looks as if it had never been used. The paint shines like new and it drives like a Cadillac should. I had it appraised for insurance purposes and was valued at $7,500. I'm looking forward to driving it to car show this summer and to the Cadillac show at the dealership. The only thing it needs is a tune up to help with the poor gas mileage and slightly rough idle. I love this car and never thought I would own it after seeing it at the car wash 2 yrs. ago.

The Gas/AC display on my 1988 DeVille randomly went out when I turned on the car, and I did not know if I changed a setting by accident/blew a fuse/or something else happen to it. I checked the fuses underneath the left side of the steering wheel, and none of them were blown. Any suggestions would be helpful. All other lights and gauges work.

I am currently driving a 1988 Cadillac Coupe De ville, chocolate metal flake exterior with cream valor interior. It is in very good condition, with 59,000 original miles. The problem I have is it leaks oil, and literally guzzles gas. It is a very expensive car to drive. Any suggestions?
