I totally agree.
The Myvi uses a similar bodyshell to the Daihatsu Boon/Sirion which scored a commendable 4* in the Euro NCAP testing. The Savvy is not yet tested, which begs the question as to why not-do Proton think it will score badly?
The softer outer areas are there to dissipate the crash energy rather than transferring the force to the occupants.
This is why a Fiat Grande Punto is FAR SAFER than a 1990s Volvo 940, even though you would think the Volvo to be built like a tank and far safer.
See www.euroncap.com
Here's the link to the Japan Crash test for the Myvi equvilant (http://www.nasva.go.jp/mamoru/english/2005/type/07_passo.html)
Not a proud to have MyVi, it is small displacement car. Compare its specification to Proton Savvy; the MyVi too expensive to buy as a local make.
Many of my friends have commented a lot pertaining to MyVi; it's only suitable for a woman to drive in the city.
Recent case in a Malaysia accident, who drove Myvi, the children's fly out from the car, the MyVi body steel was really terrible and broken.
Think carefully before selecting your dream car.
I'm disagreed with previous comment. I had an accident last year with my Myvi (front to side with proton car) and its proof that Myvi is a very safe car. My front bonnet is totally crush in that accident my front wheel came off and my engine and gearbox also drop to ground. The accident didn't scar me a bit and also didn't affect the interior of the car. If you had seen my Myvi at that time, you must have thought that the driver is really dead. The car that I had crashed into was totally damaged and declared as scrap. So don't simply judge by just from what other people say; ask, survey, think carefully and make decision based on true data before selecting your dream car.
Exactly the point I was making. The Myvi is built with a Japanese technology, with the structure having a rigid passenger compartment and the outer areas designed to disintegrate and dissipate the force of the crash. Known as rigid safety cell and crumple zones.
Glad you were OK!
Too bad, some people's was using this website to advertise MyVi value in Malaysia, some people's in Malaysia use MyVi compare to Daihatsu Sirion. It is truth or not, all depend on individual investigate to get final answer.
Use our logic thinking to analyze, MyVi overall body compound are very small, base on study, MyVi not able withstand other vehicle hitting by speed 90km/h while accident. This is normal speed drive that define on the road all around in Malaysia.
As for New Saga (Proton), the body back side and front compound was BIG as compare to MyVi, there is a lot of space to absorb sudden hitting energy from external while accident.
The car price for New Saga is value to buy as compare to Perodue MyVi.
The New Saga (Proton) base platform was using Proton Savvy, did we really realize, the Proton Savvy base platform are very strong, if it is not, Korean company won't use Savvy base platform to develop another Proton new Saga (1.3L).
I am here not promote who brand good and bad, I am only tell the truth that I know so far.
If the person very well in technical know how, they will definite was agreed what I mention here.
I was agreed what has being commented about SAVVY.
Please refer to oversea people's commented on Proton Savvy as below link.

Interesting to note so many comments on both the Savvy and the Myvi. I have driven the Myvi and the Daihatsu Sirion, and I think the built quality is really quite good for a small hatch, although they are not that small afterall. As for the Savvy, I just say Proton has done a good turn-around job after churning out multiple disastrous models since the Wira. I guess it is difficult to compare a Myvi and a Savvy, as they differ quite a fair bit in terms of size, although they seem to belong to the same category of vehicle. Don't forget that most Perodua cars are now jointly developed with Toyota and Daihatsu, the Myvi is also sold as a Toyota in its home country Japan, and the new Kembara replacement, Nautica is a CBU from Japan, rebadged Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios, I have test driven both and they are great cars, good handling and comfortable. As for Proton, they are picking up quickly but they still need to upgrade a bit on their use of cheap plastic inside. But having said that I am getting a Persona and a Saga to replace my folks' cars, less dollars for more metal lol!
Who commented about MyVi is value to buy, very safe car (even accident, human no injure), safe petrol consumption. and quality material were used. It is a REAL???
If it is not a truth word and real case sharing here, then might have BIG problem. the any how information sharing here might be killed to those family whom just newly plan purchase car, they might be killed on the road accident becuase of they wrong vehicle selection.
While talk about road accident, most of people was commented, if MyVi back side hitted by some other car, the rear seated passenger will be killed, reason being, MyVi back side NO space to absorb external force.
I think you will find that the Myvi is typical of a modern, western European standard hatchback and no better or worse than other brands for rear crash protection.
I assume your rear crash damage comments relate to the car bodyshell being without a long boot, as it is a hatchback.
I would not like to be in an accident in ANY small hatchback, particularly a rear hit, and would not comment about the Myvi being any better or worse than any other small hatchback, Proton or whatever.
If safety is your primary concern, buy an older 5*NCAP rated car, not a Savvy, Myvi or other small hatchback.
Has enough been said about this now?! Can we start a new thread?!
That's why we never heard MyVi body very hard since from day one, only you are only one help to bring MyVi valuable in the Malaysia market.
My understanding, for all type's of smaller displacement car, the design should cater whole bodyshell use high grade steel instead of lower grade, the highest grade steel bodyshell, at least will help us to prevent injury, if there is accident by huge force from external.
That's why Proton Savvy was built in high grade steel and tough as compare among smaller displacement car in Malaysia, the price even cheaper as compare to Perodua MyVi, That's why we mention MyVi no value to buy.
Even worst for MyVi, if we compare to full specs of New Proton SAGA (1.3L), the car only with selling price as RM39,000.00, but you can get overall design even bigger, same specs and even more space as compare to MyVi. That's why people's mention Perodua MyVi too expensive as local (Malaysia) made + No value to buy.
Seriously, In Malaysia, no other brand of smaller displacement was made locally, only Savvy from Proton and MyVi from Perodua, that's why we use most of this two model for comparison.
We are not supported own benefit, just share the FACT.
