At the end of the day a 2Ltr standard focus IS going to 'eat' a standard 1.6Ltr saxo or zetec-s it stands to reason, bigger engine, more power, only slightly heavier. so to be fair that's nothing to wet yourself over, if it was flipped on its head and the 1.6 'eat' the 2.0 it would be something to brag about, otherwise you've got nothing!!

I dunno why you think ur so cool bragging about how you can beat little 1.6's in your superchipped 2.0 litre crappy focus. 106 gti will eat them all. better handling, more power and looks heaps better than anything that has ever come out of the ford garage ;)

Actually he has got a point its the same insurance group as the fiesta only much more powerful and a 2.0 chipped focus would eat a standard 106 gti.

Can the traction control be turned off on the zetec 1.6 s?

Oh by the way, my classic mini would make all you chavs look pretty silly haha!

I've just bought one, yesterday. Pick it up tomorrow. I had no idea how much a of teeny-bopper, pimpin', chav-wagon it is. This thread has opened my eyes to the world of traffic-light-tastic burn-outs and burberry. I swear, the first person to give me the racing 'nod', I'm going to crash into the side of him! LOL! My first inclination of my spotty adolescence-ness and rekindled yoof was my daughter asking me if it came with standard Ford fluffy dice?

I bought it because it's cheap to run, cheap to insure, cheap to repair and got a little bit of poke. In my opinion, it's nicer to look at than a Saxo or a Peugeot 106/205, etc. or an old-shape Fiat Punto (the new Punto Grande is rather nice).

You won't see me wearing shades at night. My car won't develop an attraction to bonnet-mounted LED's and the only (bass) bin my boot will hold is stuff from the kitchen, for the recycling plant, down the road.

Focus has more power, more style, BETTER handling!!! half the price to insure, more comfortable, rides nicely on 17's where as 106 gti or saxo vts won't! more torque, better interior, better build quality... the list goes on.

When will you saxo and 106 drivers grow up and realise your cars are nowhere near as good as you think they are.

Bluefin chips make a massive difference to a zetec engine I know someone that's got a 1.8 focus with a bluefin and that is as fast as my 206 gti 140 bhp model which has exactly the same performance as the 106 gti so I would imagine a 2.0 focus with a bluefin would be faster.

To the bloke who wrote on the 25th of March: I think the 106 gti is good, so if I say it is then it IS! Got that? Thank you, it WILL beat a Zetec S, C2 VTS, Saxo VTR 0-60 as well. On the topic of handling, and as for the 2.0 Focus, (which is a completely irrelevant comparison) it would still hold its own, given the size of the engine (1.6liter 16v).

Don't you mean 138bhp!

A Focus is 300kg heavier than a Saxo or Zetec-S. Sorry, it just is. Blame NCAP.

I'm not getting involved in which is better. I don't own either and couldn't care less. Just wanted to make the point that to call the Focus "slightly heavier" is a mistake. Try over 30% heavier!

People with their 'modded' Zetec S cars and 2.0 Focuses try having a go at my 106 gti. It's a 2002 model with an induction kit, performance plugs, 4-2-1 manifold and full through exhaust system that's been lowered all round with performance tyres and with a short shift / group n linkages. Soon to have the head ported / polished. Flash me I double dare you!

Yep no problem mate, ill flash my lights at you, I have a Focus 2.0 that's 'modded' as you say, although it is of the RS variety.

You'll get a good look at my exhaust before I disappear into the distance.
