1997 Opel Vectra CD from Philippines - Comments

I never knew about the problems of the vectra. I'm also from the Philippines and I'll be getting a second hand Opel Vectra 2.0 CD 2 days from now. It's a 1997 model, but has only run 25,000kms and has been parked in the garage of the previous owner since 2002 since the owner was out of the country that long and recently returned and decided to sell it. Anyway, I hope the car doesn't have all these problems mentioned or that would be a pain! Hopefully it works well with the tropical climate here.

I own a 2.0 16V Opel Vectra 1995, which has performed well for many years. Normal temperature closer to 90 than 95 degree C. Last one and half weeks cooling temperature rose driving slow at rush hours and engine coolant level needed not only topping up, but more liters. Car is kept at service and repairs by GM only. Checked out today and conclusion is leakage at engine gasket - coolant leaves via exhaust and engine must be opened. Approx. 137.000 km. As the car is without AC the first indication is virtually not a too high temperature, but a reduced heat rate in the coupe register.

Iam from Iraq I have OPEl VECTRA 1.8i model 1990 and it is never know what is the heat. But I only change the thermostat of fan with those of folkswagon

so it is a good car.

I am from Greece and owns an Opel Vectra B Edition 2001

I also experienced same overheating problem. The temperature goes to 100 degrees when the air conditioning (clima) is on and stays approximately at 95 degrees.

The normal temperature for this car for 6 yeas was 90-92 celsius degrees. Now some times works perfectly some times (mainly after or during the clima operation) the temperature rises to 100 degrees.

I have seen that exist two fans (ventilators).

One in front of radiator that starts normally only when the air conditioning is in operation (high temperature) and one rear the radiator that starts to work in normal operation (90-92 degrees).

When the problem appears the fan rear of the radiator does not work. So my problem is that the cooling fan rear the radiator is not working all the time.

I replaced the temperature sensor for the fan on the Radiator.

I replaced the thermostat. The problem remains.

My questions are:

Which device controls the cooling fan? (ECU or something else)

is there a relay before (in series) the cooling Fan?

Where is this? (the relay if exists)

Where can I find an electrical circuit diagram?

If you have some suggestions, please let me know.

You ask if you can reach 200 km in a 1998 2 liter vectra...

Sure you can cause I have a v 1995 1.6 liter... and I use to drive it on high speeds.. the top is 215..

5 month ago, I bought a used Opel Vectra 2.01 1995.

I very much like this car, very convenient, before I used a Japananese Daihatsu Xenia/2005, a new one.

I have problems with the battery of my Vectra. I must change the battery, but I don't know the right amperage for the Vectra, the old in my car is 80A. but my friend said it is not right, too big for a sedan. Can't I change it with 65A, because the 80A is too expensive?

And the last is, where can I get the manual book for my Vectra in Indonesia. I live in Jakarta - Indonesia.
