OK, well I have a 94 J30 t and read all the posts here. I have some problems with the car, but have found the means to fix most of it, and thought I should share what I have found:
As for the blinking light while trying to start the car, and it will not start = that is due to the alarm on the car. Use your key to unlock the doors. If that doesn't disarm it, I have found that if you open the trunk with the key, that will disarm the alarm too.
As for the headlight relay, it is on the drivers side right behind the strut tower. It will have 2 plugs to it, and the solder joints are known to break inside the relay. I was able to re solder that and headlights stay on now.
If you have others that I could help you on, email me at pwh24@hotmail.com
Also I am looking for front struts. If any one has 2 to sell, let me know.
I want to say "thank you" for those who share J-30 experiences here. I have a 94 J-30 163K for nearly 5 years and it ran great. This after noon, I suddenly realized that I can't start my car, even though I pressed the gas pedal during ignition. The battery seemed OK, I even asked one friend to jump it in a heavy rain today, just in case the battery is short of energy. Then, I suspected maybe it is due to the cold weather at Boston for the previous dates. Just before I wanted to call AAA, I googled J-30 start problem. I found this forum, which has so much helpful information. I got the following message posed on 2006 January and gave it a try immediately afterwards, it worked! It was exactly what happened and what I observed. Last Sunday, I moved my car from one parking spot to another and turned it off.
Here I copied and pasted this thread here again, hope be helpful for whose who have similar problem again.

Referring to the comment on 6th Jan 2006, 13:21 about a J30 that doesn't want to start at all. "It sounds like it wants to start, but it doesn't and there was smoke coming form the steering wheel column." My story may help you. Once I started my J30 and moved it onto the street from the driveway and turned it off. The next day it would not start. I talked to an Infiniti mechanic and he said it was common for a J30 that had not been run long enough to warm up to not want to start. The solution is to start it with the gas peddle all the way to the floor. The car will start VERY ROUGH and sprew WHITE SMOKE out the exhaust. You will need to pump the gas to keep it going. Once it reaches operating temperature, it will be OK.
I bought a 93 J30.The car ran good and for about 8 miles then the car stopped moving. I parked it, put it on drive and pressed on the gas pedal. The car would not move. Now the engine is still on, but no movement from the car. What causes this problem. People are saying transmission. That's just the first problem. So by having the car sitting in the driveway the car is dead. So I buy a new battery. Now the car just cranks no start. I get a guy to look at it and checks the spark plugs, they are OK. A plug next to the spark plug was disconnected, he plugs it in and the car starts. Drove the car the all day that day and the next day back to the very same problem the car won't drive. What is this problem please help me.
I have a 94 J30 with 90000 miles, and it has been a good car until the radio quit overnight. I pulled he head unit and sent it in to Willmans. They replaced a board ($160) and I reinstalled it; still no output. It turns on and moves channels as normal, no output. Replaced the rear speakers from a known good unit, still no output. Checked for power at the speaker and I have none. Got a manual and narrowed it down to the switching relay (pass side inner firewall). Pulled glove box, etc. Still can't get to it. Has anyone changed this this relay? How do I get to it? Thanks.
Awesome website!
I've had my 1993 J30 for a few years now. Bought it with 70,000 miles on it and now has 160,000!! I'd agree it's an awesome car!
Some issues:
Sunroof didn't work --dealer replaced it before purchase with a new motor. (leaks during heavy rains)
**AC went out- I spent a whole summer in south MS with out AC (and leather seats) the fix was a new Idle pump?? can't remember the actual term but got a used one from a salvage shop--blows ice cold now! ($90)
**Belts needed replacing.
**Window motors are dying, drivers window won't roll up at all.
**Antennae broke off (someone bent it) --the motor still tries to take it up and down.
**Speakers all blew out--maybe I used too much bass.
**HEADLIGHTS!!! ARG
three tickets so far for "improper equipment" --the cops don't believe me when I tell them "it comes and goes"
**Smoking steering wheel--the turn signal switch needed to be replaced. New switch and headlight "fix" from repair shop was like $250
**Dash lights went out but came back on eventually. Now that they work again the headlight is messing up--Don't know if that's related??
Car still runs like a champ!!! I drove it to Chicago (750miles) over Christmas. Had the cold start issue up there and here in MS back in January. Usually only happens when the car sits for a day or two. Pumping the gas pedal works to get it going.
What I need help on:
Where to get used parts??? Things I'm looking for:
Window motors (drivers and rear)
Speakers (tan)
Front door panels (tan)
Seat covers??
VERY detailed explanation on how to fix headlight issue (I don't want to have to pay someone to do it every few months)
A explanation on how to fix my windows--the drivers side motor needs replacing. (Like how to get the darn door panels off!)
(NOTE: I'm a girl, little to no automotive experience, but very handy! So please give directions in simple terms i.e. colors, sizes, instead of part names. Thanks!)
If you have time, and would like to help me out, please email me at courtney.vanderschaaf@gmail.com
I own J30T and for the past 50k I have never had any problems. The car runs perfect (so far). I do oil changes every 5,000km and use premium fuel only. My instrument panel lights disappeared once and after I played with the switch they came back on. The CD doesn't work when the car warms up - go figure. I have changed brake pads with ceramic ones and the rotors with after market cross drilled zinc plated ones. The brakes will stop you dead in your tracks, they are awesome. The antenna sometimes doesn't go all the way down. I usually clean it up with a dry cloth with some WD40 for lubrication. This usually works for a month.
Now my blower motor only works on high??? The A/C is engaging but the motor only works on high.
Is there a secret to it, or I simply need a new motor.
I have owned a few cars, but by far this 93 J30T beats them all.
Your comment are much appreciated!
I have a 1993 J30T with 113,000 miles. I bought it 2 years ago with 98,000 miles.. I have a few problems that I need some help with if possible...
A) ABS light goes on every now and then.. There is a buzzing sound. I disconnect the battery cable and it resets and stops. Does anyone know what I have to do to fix it? Is it easy to do myself?
B) Dash light use to go out every now and then.. I would bang the dash and it would work.. But, last month it just went out. Where do I check and what needs to be replaced?
C) Sunroof doesn't close all the way. And right passenger window stops half way. Do I need to replace the motors?
All help would be appreciated. I want to try to fix myself if possible.. Does the dash board fuse need to be replaced? If so, where is it located? I don't have a owners manual...
Thanks, for your help... appreciated...
I am having issues with my turn signals and a smoking steering column!!! 93 J30 runs very well, but experienced the blower issues, window issues, headlight issues, but never engine issues!!!
Hi all... I have a J30t.. I think the big problem is the fuse box.. just clean it and take off rust and it will some of the electric problem.. That's why it come and goes... :D cyber-me@hotmail.com for any questions or comment :)
