Use Premium Unleaded with Flashlube (valve saver fluid), which I buy at Repco or Auto One. That's what I do and I have a 1985 VK Berlina EFI. Runs fine.

VK's are a really shoddy car, as for them being a dream to drive, sad to say, but they're anything but that.

They are far from shoddy mate, when well maintained that is.

For a early 1980s platform the vk was a decade ahead of its time. The body is smooth and sleek, but still has the tuffness that the vl lacks.

Mine is copping a full ground up rebuild... throw 25g at one and you will have more car than a new hsv I guarantee you..

Build it like peter brock did and you won't ever want another car.

I have an 84 Holden Berlina VK 4D Sedan 6 CYL Auto, which has been a great car to drive, and body and interior are in excellent condition.

Only problem now is oil blowing out through tightened fuel cap particularly at higher speeds, and making mess of engine area.

There may be problems with rings or a multitude of other things, and I was wondering if I should consider a reconditioned motor or just a rebuild of essential parts???

It still runs beautifully and has done only 220,000 KLMS.
