I just found this site, and I noticed you talking about the Dodge Shadow. I own a 93 Dodge Shadow with 2.2 5 speed. I advanced the timing on it, and it ran awesome.
After 185,000 miles, the motor finally went after lots of abuse. So I went out and bought a 2.5 for it, and redid the whole motor, and did some mods, and it runs like a top.
The only problem right now is the transmission, because I live in the coal region, and around here, they take a lot of abuse.
I would definitly have to say the Dodge Shadow is the ultimate car in its class. So far I have raced a Ford Escort ZX2, Honda Civic, a Jetta, a Cavalier, and a corolla, and none of them came close to me in the quarter mile..
Shadow is the way to go.
I own a 93 Dodge Shadow, and I have had almost no problems with it. I have owed it since 1994, and the first thing that went out was the water pump in 1998. We replaced it and the timing belt. Then in 2000 the alternator went out, and finally in 2003 we replaced all of the brake pads. I have never had or even heard of a car like my Shadow. We have had all of the routine maintenance required, and added gas. I have had several of my close acquaintances wanting to buy this car from me, but I plan to keep it until it runs no more. Oh and yes, it does make several unexplained noises. My car now has 177000 miles. It has the Mitsubishi 3.0 Liter engine. I also had it painted, and all of the marks were removed. So, I don’t remember if it was the ES or the GT or the ET? My Shadow has been a great car.

ES.
My 93 Shadow with 2.2 was very durable. Had 195,000 miles on the stock lower end, but had a rebuilt head. Sadly, they don't hold up well to getting t-boned by a semi.
I have a 1993 Dodge Duster with 130,000 miles on it. I purchased it new. I have had no problems with it. I will just know have to replace the rear brakes. Everything that I have had to replace in it has been the normal things. The car still runs great.
